About Pine Rivers Swans
Origins and Founding
Pine Rivers Swans Australian Football Club has long fielded teams out of Rob Akers Reserve in Strathpine, in the City of Moreton Bay. According to the club's own Instagram profile, the Swans' history stretches back to 1960, making it one of the longer-standing Australian rules clubs in Brisbane's northern suburbs.
The girls' program behind this banner sits within that same club structure, alongside the Auskick, junior, senior women's and senior men's sides that all call Rob Akers Reserve home.

Club History
The Swans compete in AFL Queensland's South East Queensland Juniors competition at junior level, with the club's senior women's side also fielding teams in Queensland Football Association-affiliated competitions. In 2023, the club unveiled a $3.1 million clubhouse and universal-access changeroom upgrade at Rob Akers Reserve, funded jointly by the City of Moreton Bay, the Queensland Government and AFL Queensland, a project reported by Moreton Daily as part of a push to grow women's participation in Australian football across the region.

Home Ground
Rob Akers Reserve in Strathpine has been upgraded significantly in recent years, with new playing surfaces, lighting and the 2023 clubhouse redevelopment all aimed at supporting the club's growing junior, women's and men's programs. The reserve now offers universal-access facilities designed to make the ground welcoming for players and families across every age group.

Community and Programs
Pine Rivers Swans describes itself as a family-friendly club, fielding Auskick, Junior and Youth, Senior Women's and Senior Men's teams side by side, according to the club's Instagram page. Strathpine
Strathpine is a suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, established in the 1860s as an offshoot of the nearby North Pine settlement, according to Wikipedia. Its name combines the Scottish word "strath", meaning valley, with a reference to the nearby Pine River. Strathpine recorded a population of 10,647 at the 2021 census and sits about 21 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD, making it a well-connected base for a growing suburban football club.
