FootyBanners.com creates custom banners for the Rutherglen Football Netball Club that honour every milestone in your football journey, giving players, families, and supporters a lasting keepsake to treasure.
Simple to Order
We produce Single Player, Two Player, Team, and Grand Final Banners. Just provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone. All banners use permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper - perfect for celebrating on a crisp northeast Victoria afternoon at Barkly Park.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Cats share the same milestone on game day, our Two Player Banner celebrates both together. Provide the names and guernsey numbers for both players and we'll deliver a quality banner that marks the moment.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
The Team Banner option covers 3 to 6 players in one personalised design. Add a top-line message like "Rutherglen Cats - Tallangatta League Premiers" to celebrate the full squad's achievement with style.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang yours in the Cats clubrooms, garage, or games room as a permanent reminder of a proud football career at the Rutherglen FNC.
Grand Final Banners
Grand Final Banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customisable top and bottom text. Contact us for design assistance when the Rutherglen Football Netball Club is heading to the big dance.
About Rutherglen Football and Netball Club
Origins and Founding
Football in Rutherglen has a history stretching to 1877, when the original Rutherglen Football Club played its first recorded match against Wahgunyah Football Club on 3 June 1877. That original club competed in the Ovens and Murray Football Association from 1893 and was a significant force in early regional football. In 1979, after the original Rutherglen Redlegs merged with the Corowa Spiders to form the Corowa-Rutherglen Roos, a group of surplus players broke away to form the Rutherglen-Corowa Cats. The new club joined the Coreen and District Football League (CDFL) and has carried the Cats name - and the spirit of Rutherglen football - ever since. The club officially became the Rutherglen Football Club in 2002, and the football and netball club is based at Barkly Park, Rutherglen.
Club History
The Cats enjoyed their most successful period in the Coreen and District Football League between 1979 and 1991, winning three senior premierships (1982, 1986 and 1991) and three reserves premierships (1982, 1985 and 1991). The club's early CDFL era also saw it reach multiple grand finals without reaching a senior grand final, though the Under 16s won a premiership in 2001. In 2004 the club successfully appealed to join the Tallangatta and District Football League (TDFL), where it continues to compete today. The club's most recent achievement came in 2025, when the Cats claimed the TDFL senior premiership. During the CDFL era, the club produced several footballers who went on to VFL/AFL careers, including John Longmire (North Melbourne, 1987), Michael Gayfer (Collingwood, 1987), Brett McKenzie and Mark O'Donoghue (both North Melbourne, 1988), and Robbie Campbell (Hawthorn, 2002).
Home Ground
Barkly Park is the club's traditional home, located just off Reid Street in Rutherglen's town centre. The ground has been the home of football in Rutherglen since the 1870s, representing a continuous link between the current Cats and the town's earliest football history. The facility accommodates football and netball competitions and has been upgraded progressively to meet the needs of both codes.
Community and Programs
The Rutherglen Football and Netball Club operates as a combined football and netball club, fielding senior, reserves and junior teams in each code. Junior development programs form a key part of the club's community role, with the Under 14 side having won a TDFL premiership in 2007. The club prides itself on providing an inclusive, family-friendly environment for all ages and abilities across the broader Rutherglen community.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
