Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. Provide the player's name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Tom Edwards, #6, 100 Games. Our banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to make an impression on a warm, sunny South Australian afternoon at Waverley Oval.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Blacks players sharing a milestone moment? Our Two Player Banner honours both players on the same banner. Just supply the names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone and we'll create a quality piece both players will cherish.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Celebrating 3 to 6 players hitting milestones on the same day? Our Team Banner covers everyone in one impressive banner. Try a top-line message like "Go Uni Blacks - Milestone Day!" and give your players a send-off they'll never forget.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick, recyclable paper with waterproof inks that stand the test of time. Perfect for the clubrooms, a garage wall, or a games room, they keep the Uni Blacks spirit alive long after game day.

Our Grand Final Banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text. Contact us if you need design guidance - we're proud to help the Adelaide University Blacks Football Club mark the occasion perfectly.

About Adelaide University Blacks Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Adelaide University Football Club was officially founded on 26 March 1906 and became affiliated with the Adelaide University Sports Association shortly after, on 9 April 1906. Prior to formal incorporation, informal football matches had been played among University of Adelaide students for some years, but 1906 marked the establishment of the club as a competitive entity. In 1911 the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) was formed - with the University as a founding member and its first ever premiers. As documented on the club's Wikipedia page, this makes the Blacks one of the oldest and most historically significant amateur football clubs in Australia.

Club History

The AUFC plays in what is now known as the Adelaide Footy League (AFL) - formerly the South Australian Amateur Football League. The club's record is extraordinary: 101 premierships and Intervarsity Championships in total, including 28 at Division 1 level. Division 1 premiership years include 1911, 1912, 1920, 1921, 1922, 1926, 1929, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1968, and 1969, among many others. The club has produced 48 state players and 4 All-Australian captains, and was represented by the first AAFC Carnival medallist to play for South Australia (Paul Rofe). The Blacks have entered the SAAFL/AFL competition in every season since its founding - an unbroken record spanning over 115 years of competition.

Home Ground

The AUFC trains and plays at University Oval and Bob Neil Oval, located in the Adelaide Parklands between the University of Adelaide campus and North Adelaide. The training grounds sit within Park 12 and Park 10 of the Adelaide Parklands, offering a stunning setting alongside the River Torrens. The precinct is shared with Adelaide University sporting facilities and is accessible from both the city and North Adelaide.

Community and Programs

Despite its university affiliation, membership at the AUFC is not restricted to University of Adelaide students - all are eligible to join and all are welcome. The club fields multiple teams across the senior men's, women's, and intervarsity competitions. The club's motto, "The World's Greatest Football Club", reflects both its competitive history and its strong social culture. As the late AUFC legend Chocka Bloch once described it, the club is "a social club loosely based around football" - a reputation for camaraderie that has made it one of South Australia's most enduring community institutions.

North Adelaide and the University of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest universities, founded in 1874. Its campus borders the Adelaide CBD and the North Adelaide parklands, placing the club's ground in one of the most accessible and attractive sporting locations in South Australia. North Adelaide is a prestige inner suburb known for its heritage architecture, oval, and proximity to the city. The AUFC has been entwined with the life of the university and its broader community for well over a century.

The Uni Blacks compete in the Adelaide Footy League and call University Oval, North Adelaide home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
