Spotswood Woodsmen Football Club Banners - Celebrating Woodsmen Milestones in Style

From 50 games to 200 and everything in between, FootyBanners.com creates personalised banners for Woodsmen players who deserve a proper milestone send-off. Every banner is custom-made to reflect the achievement and the club's pride.

Simple to Order

We offer Single Player, Two Player, Team, and Grand Final banner options. To get started, just provide the player's name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Ryan Connell, #22, 150 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, our banners hold up through even a cold, blustery Melbourne winter matchday.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Woodsmen reach the same milestone on the same game day, our Two Player Banner captures both achievements in one quality banner. Supply both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone and we'll take care of the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honouring 3 to 6 players on the same day? Our Team Banner lets everyone share the spotlight. A top-line message like "Go Woodsmen - Milestone Round!" gives the banner a great club feel that players and families will love.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large and are printed on thick, recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Whether displayed in the clubrooms, a garage, or a games room, they give Woodsmen players a lasting memento of their football career.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final Banners are fully customised with your top and bottom line text. If you need design guidance, get in touch and we'll help the Spotswood Woodsmen Football Club get it just right.

About Spotswood Woodsmen Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Spotswood Football Netball Club was founded in 1927 when a team was entered in the Sub District League competition in Melbourne's western suburbs. In their very first season they came close to a premiership, and won their first flag in 1933. In 1935 the club transferred to the Footscray District Football League (FDFL), and has competed in what is now known as the Western Football Netball League (WFNL) - formerly the Western Region Football League (WRFL) - ever since, making it one of the most enduring clubs in Melbourne's western suburbs.

Club History

According to Wikipedia and the TidyHQ customer profile, the Woodsmen are the most successful club in the history of the Western Region Football League, having won 15 Division 1 premierships: 1938, 1958, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1977, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1993, 1995, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011. The club also won two Division 2 flags (1944 and 1948). No club in the competition's history has won more Division 1 premierships than Spotswood.

The club has produced a number of VFL and AFL players, including Bachar Houli (Essendon and Richmond), Callan Ward (Western Bulldogs and GWS Giants), Lachlan Fogarty (Geelong and Carlton), Charlie Sutton (Footscray) and Jordan Boyd (Carlton), among others listed on the club's Wikipedia page.

Home Ground

The Woodsmen play their home games at Donald McLean Reserve in Spotswood. The ground is nestled in the heart of the suburb and has been the club's home for many decades. McLean Reserve is a well-maintained community facility in the City of Hobsons Bay that also serves local residents for recreation year-round.

Community and Programs

Spotswood FNC fields men's and women's football teams, as well as netball sides - the men are the Woodsmen and the women the Wolves. The club caters for players across a broad range of ages and abilities, with junior football also forming part of the club's community offering. The Spotswood FNC is a genuinely inclusive community sporting club in Melbourne's inner west, with strong volunteer and family involvement underpinning everything it does.

Spotswood

Spotswood is an inner-western suburb of Melbourne situated approximately 7 kilometres south-west of the CBD, within the City of Hobsons Bay. It borders Williamstown and Newport and is known for its industrial heritage, including the iconic Scienceworks museum. The suburb has a tight-knit community feel and strong working-class sporting traditions, making it natural territory for a club like the Woodsmen with nearly 100 years of history.

The Woodsmen compete in the Western Football Netball League and call Donald McLean Reserve, Spotswood home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
