About Central Hawks Football Club
Origins and Founding
Central Hawks Football Club was formed in 2005 when the Bothwell, Oatlands and Kempton Football Clubs merged from the Oatlands District Football Association, bringing together three of the Central Highlands' oldest clubs, including Bothwell, which dated back to 1880.

Club History
The Hawks entered Tasmania's Southern Football League in 2006 and reached finals in 2007, 2009 and 2010, though a senior premiership never came. Leigh Wilson finished as the club's record games holder with 119 appearances by the end of the 2012 season, and the Hawks posted their biggest ever score, 33.24 (222) to Triabunna's 2.3 (15), at Bothwell Oval in round 4, 2008. A shortage of playing numbers forced the senior club into recess in 2013, and Bothwell subsequently returned to the Oatlands District Football Association in its own right.

Home Ground
The senior Hawks split home games between Oatlands Recreation Oval and Bothwell Recreation Ground during their years in the Southern Football League. Junior football has continued at Kempton Oval, where the Central Hawks Junior Football Club now trains and plays.

Community and Programs
The Central Hawks Junior Football Club keeps the Hawks name alive today, fielding boys and girls aged 5 to 16 in the Southern Tasmanian Junior Football League. Home games and training sessions are held at Kempton Oval, giving children across the Southern Midlands a football pathway close to home.

Kempton
Kempton is a small town of around 386 people (2016 census) in Tasmania's Southern Midlands, about 48 kilometres north of Hobart on the Midland Highway. Settled by Europeans in 1820 as Green Ponds, the town was renamed in 1838 after early landholder Anthony Fenn Kemp and was once linked to Hobart by a railway line that operated between 1891 and 1947.
