Zeehan Bulldogs Football Club Banners - Honouring a Proud West Coast Legacy

The Bulldogs have a rich place in the history of Tasmanian football, and FootyBanners.com is proud to help keep that spirit alive. Whether you are celebrating a long-serving player's milestone or commemorating the club's heritage, a custom Bulldogs banner is a meaningful way to honour those who wore the guernsey.

Simple to Order

We offer Single Player, Two Player, Team, and Grand Final banner options to suit any occasion. For player banners, you'll need the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Sam Dunbabin, #12, 50 Games. All banners are made with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, tough enough to withstand a cold and blustery Tasmanian winter on the West Coast.

Two Players, One Banner

When two players reach the same milestone in the same game, our Two Player banner captures both of them on one quality banner. Simply provide both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone - a great way to mark a shared achievement.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Recognise a group of 3 to 6 players with our Team Banner option. A top-line message like "Zeehan Bulldogs - West Coast Football Pride" makes for an impressive keepsake. Team banners are ideal for end-of-season events, junior presentations, or any occasion worth celebrating together.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Whether they go up in the clubrooms or a supporter's home, Bulldogs fans will be proud to display these lasting tributes to their club's history.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final Banners can be fully customised with your chosen top and bottom text. Contact the team at FootyBanners.com for design guidance tailored to the Zeehan Bulldogs Football Club's proud identity.

About Zeehan Bulldogs Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Zeehan Bulldogs Football Club traces its origins to 1896, when the club was first established in the remote mining town of Zeehan on Tasmania's West Coast. In its early years the club competed in local west coast competitions, including the Murchison Football Association, before the Western Tasmanian Football Association (WTFA) absorbed MFA clubs in 1976, bringing the Bulldogs into a larger, more formalised competition. Zeehan is one of the oldest football clubs in Tasmania, with a history stretching back nearly 130 years.

Club History

The Bulldogs' finest hour in the WTFA came in 1985, when they claimed the association's senior premiership - defeating Lyell-Gormanston 22.10 (142) to 14.14 (98) in the Grand Final. This remains the club's only WTFA title. Zeehan competed in the WTFA from 1976 until 1993, when the association ceased operations, after which the club moved on to the Leven Football Association on the North West Coast. The West Coast competition was fiercely contested, featuring rival clubs from Queenstown, Rosebery, and Savage River, making the 1985 flag a hard-earned achievement for the Bulldogs faithful.

The senior club is no longer in operation, but the football spirit of Zeehan lives on. The Zeehan Mini League Club continues to run junior football programs for the town's young players, keeping Australian rules football active in one of Tasmania's most remote communities.

Home Ground

The Bulldogs played their home games at the Zeehan Cricket Ground, a shared sporting facility that also hosted cricket in the town. The ground was a focal point of community life during the club's active years, with West Coast football drawing strong local support from a population closely connected through the mining industry. The ground reflects the practical, community-built character of sport in Tasmania's remote west.

Community and Programs

Despite the senior club's closure, Australian rules football remains part of Zeehan's sporting identity. The Zeehan Mini League Club runs junior football for the area's young players, providing a grassroots pathway in a town where community sports have historically played an outsized role in social life. The club's long history - and the passion of its supporters - reflects the resilience of small Tasmanian communities in sustaining football long after larger-scale economic activity has wound back.

Zeehan

Zeehan is a historic mining town on Tasmania's rugged West Coast, situated approximately 139 km south-west of Burnie and 40 km from Strahan. Known historically as "The Silver City", Zeehan experienced a dramatic silver-lead mining boom following the discovery of ore deposits by Frank Long in 1882. By around 1910 the town's population had reached nearly 10,000, making it one of Tasmania's largest settlements at the time. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 722, a reflection of how dramatically mining fortunes transformed the town over the 20th century. Today Zeehan is known for the West Coast Heritage Centre, its rugged landscapes, and the enduring community spirit of its residents.

The Bulldogs compete in the Leven Football Association and call the Zeehan Cricket Ground home. For more information on the town's history, see the Zeehan, Tasmania Wikipedia article.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
