Hillwood Sharks Banners - Nearly a Century of NTFA Pride

Founded in 1926, the Hillwood Football Club has a proud history in Tasmanian football, and FootyBanners.com is here to help the Sharks celebrate every milestone with a custom banner that reflects that long tradition.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options and provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone (for example, Jake Watts, #23, 100 Games). Every banner is produced with permanent inks on heavy-duty paper that handles a cold and blustery Tasmanian afternoon at the ground without missing a beat.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Sharks players hit the same milestone in the same match, our Two Player banner is the perfect way to celebrate them both at once. Provide both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll take care of the design.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For clubs celebrating 3 to 6 players together, our Team Banner option covers the whole group in one great design. Set a powerful top-line message like "Go Sharks!" and give your squad a banner they'll be proud to run through.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners are available in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. A brilliant addition to the Sharks clubrooms or a home display that celebrates a great career at Hillwood.

Grand Final Banners

When the Sharks are in the grand final, show up in full voice with a banner in 4.5m or 5.5m. Top and bottom text is fully customised for Hillwood Football Club. Contact us ahead of finals for design advice and wording support.

About Hillwood Football Club (Sharks)

Origins and Founding

The Hillwood Football Club - known as the Sharks - was founded in 1926 and is one of the most enduring football clubs in northern Tasmania. In 2026, the club celebrates its centenary year, marking 100 years of community football in the Hillwood district. Originally competing in the East Tamar Football Association (ETFA) from 1946, the Sharks built a formidable reputation through the mid-20th century before joining the Tamar Football Association (TFA) in 1980 and then the Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) in 1996.

Club History

The Sharks enjoyed a golden era between 1955 and 1968, winning eight senior premierships and establishing themselves as the dominant force in northern Tasmanian community football during that period. After going into recess in 1970 due to player and committee shortages, the club was revived in 1980 and has been competing continuously ever since.

In the NTFA era, Hillwood won back-to-back Division 1 premierships in 1999 and 2000, and added a third NTFA title in 2019. The Sharks have remained competitive across recent seasons, reaching the 2023 NTFA Division 1 grand final (losing to Rocherlea) and continuing to feature in finals contention through 2024 and 2025.

Home Ground

The Sharks play their home matches at the Hillwood Recreation Reserve - known to supporters as Shark Park - located in the heart of the Hillwood township on Tasmania's East Tamar Highway corridor. The ground is a well-established community sporting facility and has hosted NTFA competition football since the club's reformation in 1980.

Community and Programs

The Hillwood Football Club fields both a senior men's team and a Women's team in NTFA competition, with the Women's side adding another dimension to the club's community reach. The club is a strong advocate for developing local talent from the George Town and East Tamar regions, with junior pathways feeding into senior ranks over successive generations.

Hillwood, Tasmania

Hillwood is a small town approximately 25.5 kilometres north of Launceston in the George Town local government area on Tasmania's East Tamar Highway. The 2021 Australian census recorded a population of 591. The area is well known for the Hillwood Berry Farm and Millers Orchard, which draw visitors from across northern Tasmania, and the Tamar River forms the town's western and northern boundaries.

The Sharks compete in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association and call Hillwood Recreation Reserve (Shark Park) home. Visit the club at hillwoodsharks.com and follow them on Facebook for all the latest news and match updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
