Huonville Lions Banners - Roar Loud for the Lions

When a Huonville Lions player hits a milestone worth celebrating, FootyBanners.com delivers a custom banner that does the moment justice. Our banners are the perfect way for Lions supporters to honour the players who give everything for the club.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. All we need is the player's name, guernsey number, and the milestone - for example, Sam Collins, #14, 100 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your Lions banner will hold up through even the most biting Tasmanian winter afternoon.

Two Players, One Banner

Got two Lions hitting the same game milestone on the same day? Our Two Player banner is built for exactly that. Supply both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone, and we'll create a quality banner that celebrates both players together.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Our Team Banner option fits 3-6 players on a single banner - a great way to wrap up the season or mark a special round. Try something like "Go Lions!" as your top-line message to fire up the whole club on game day.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang them in the clubrooms, the garage, or the games room as a proud reminder of the Lions' finest moments.

Grand Final Banners

Our Grand Final banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, with fully customised top and bottom text. When the Huonville Lions Football Club is pushing for silverware, contact us and we'll help design a banner worthy of the occasion.

About Huonville Lions Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Huonville Lions Football Club was formed in 1998 through a merger of two historic Huon Valley clubs: the Huonville Bulldogs and the Franklin Lions, both of which had been competing in the Huon Football Association since 1887. The merger came at the end of the 1997 season following the dissolution of the Huon Football Association, with the newly formed Lions club joining the Southern Football League (SFL) for the 1998 season. This union brought together over a century of combined football history from the two founding clubs, as detailed on the club's Wikipedia page.

Club History

The Lions quickly established themselves as a force in the SFL, reaching the grand final in their debut decade and claiming their first SFL premiership in 2008. The club added a second flag in 2020 - ending a run of heartbreaking grand final losses in 2018 and 2019 - and claimed a third SFL premiership in 2025. The Lions have appeared in eight SFL grand finals since joining the competition, including runners-up finishes in 2007, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023. Club legend Steven "Runner" Reeve holds the all-time games record with more than 450 appearances for the Lions.

Home Ground

The Lions play their home games at Huonville Oval, a ground with a capacity of 17,125 spectators - making it one of the larger community football venues in regional Tasmania. The oval is located in central Huonville and is a focal point for the local community on match days. Prior to the 1998 merger, the Franklin Lions played out of Franklin Oval before the combined club took up residence in Huonville.

Community and Programs

The Huonville Lions field both senior and junior teams, providing football pathways for all age groups across the valley. The Lions Junior Football Club has operated alongside the senior club since 1998, giving young players from the Huon Valley a pathway through the junior ranks. The club is deeply woven into the social fabric of Huonville, bringing together families from across the valley for training nights, game days, and club events throughout the season.

Huonville and the Huon Valley

Huonville is the main commercial centre of the Huon Valley, located approximately 35 kilometres south of Hobart in southern Tasmania. The region is celebrated for its apple orchards, cool climate vineyards, and spectacular Huon River scenery. It is a close-knit rural community where football has been a cornerstone of local life since the 1880s, and the Lions carry that long tradition forward with pride every season.

The Lions compete in the Southern Football League and call Huonville Oval home. Follow the Lions on Facebook for match day news and club updates, and follow them on Instagram for team selections, highlights, and club announcements.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
