📝 How to Order Your Personalised OHA Ships Footy Banner
Ordering your OHA Ships milestone football banner is easy. First, choose your size and type-Small, Medium, Large, Team, or Grand Final. Enter the player’s first name, last name, and guernsey number (for example, Michael Smith, #23), and specify the milestone games being celebrated, like a 150-Game milestone.
Our heavy-duty paper and permanent inks ensure your custom footy banner will look sharp and stay strong in rain, wind, or sunshine.
If you’re ordering a two-player football banner, both players must share the same milestone. Enter both names and guernsey numbers, and we’ll print an affordable, high-quality two-player milestone banner for the OHA Ships Football Club.
For Team banners showcasing three to six players, select the Team Banner option. List up to six player names. We’ll optimise the layout for a premium group AFL footy banner that highlights all your milestone achievers.
If you’d like a custom team banner with a slogan, simply add your top text (such as "Great Team Effort This Year!") and a bottom tagline. We'll design a team footy banner that captures the true spirit of the OHA Ships Football Club.
We also offer wall keepsake banners, available in Small, Medium, or Large. These scaled-down versions of your AFL run-through banner are printed on thick, recyclable paper with waterproof inks-perfect for displaying at home, in the games room, shed, or the clubrooms.
Finally, for the ultimate celebration, order a Grand Final banner. Choose from a 4.5 metre or a massive 5.5 metre size, with fully custom top and bottom text. Contact us for bespoke design advice, and celebrate with a Grand Final footy banner that makes your OHA Ships Football Club stand out on the biggest day of the season.
About OHA Ships Football Club
Origins and Founding
OHA Football Club was founded on 26 March 1919 as the Old Scholars Football Club of the Hobart High School, which was located in Letitia Street, North Hobart. The club was established by former students of the school seeking to continue their football after graduation, and quickly became known by the nickname "The Ships" - a reference to the OHA initials that has defined the club's identity ever since. In the early decades, the Ships played across a number of grounds including Clare Street and the TCA Ground before eventually finding a permanent home.
Club History
OHA competes in the Old Scholars Football Association (OSFA), the premier old scholars competition in southern Tasmania. The Ships have accumulated 13 senior premierships across their history, in 1927, 1929, 1937, 1938, 1944, 1948, 1967, 1969, 1972, 1982, 1988, 2008 and 2011. Of those, three were State Senior Premierships, claimed in 1967, 1969 and 1972. The reserves side has also distinguished itself with 5 reserves premierships, including two state titles in 1969 and 1972. The club celebrated its centenary in 2019, marking 100 years of continuous football in the Hobart community.
Home Ground
In 1977, the club relocated to its current ground at DeBomford Lane, Geilston Bay, where it has remained for nearly five decades. The ground sits within the City of Clarence on Hobart's eastern shore and serves as the hub for all club activities including training, match days and social events. The move to Geilston Bay proved formative for the club, providing a long-term home base from which it continued to achieve premiership success in 1982, 1988, 2008 and 2011.
Community and Programs
As an old scholars club, OHA maintains a strong tradition of connecting former students and their families through football. The club fields senior and reserves sides each season and has developed a loyal and close-knit membership base across the greater Hobart region. Life membership is among the highest honours the club bestows, and the Ships take pride in recognising those who have given sustained service to the club over many years.
Geilston Bay
Geilston Bay is a residential suburb on Hobart's eastern shore, situated within the City of Clarence. With a population of approximately 3,050, it lies between the suburbs of Risdon Vale, Shag Bay and Lindisfarne. The suburb looks out over the Derwent River and is part of a vibrant eastern shore community that has seen steady growth over recent decades. Its location makes it easily accessible from central Hobart, connecting the Ships' ground to supporters across the city.
The Ships compete in the Old Scholars Football Association and call DeBomford Lane, Geilston Bay home. For more information visit the club website, or connect on Facebook and Instagram.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

đź’ˇ Tips & Tricks
