Grovedale Tigers Banners - Tigers on the Prowl in Geelong

When the Grovedale Tigers run out on a cool Geelong afternoon, there is nothing that gets the crowd on their feet faster than the team bursting through a custom-designed run-through banner. FootyBanners.com creates banners that capture the energy and identity of your club and give every player that extra edge as they hit the field.

Simple to Order

Ordering a Grovedale Tigers banner is straightforward. Upload your player photo, add the wording you want, and our design team takes care of the artwork. You will receive a proof to approve before we go to print, so there are no surprises on game day.

Two Players, One Banner

Our two-player banner is a popular way to recognise a standout combination. Whether it is co-captains, a pair of finals-series heroes, or two players who have been brilliant all year, sharing the spotlight on one banner makes for an image the whole club will remember.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Bring the full Grovedale Tigers squad together on a single banner for end-of-season presentations, milestone rounds, or any celebration that honours the whole group. Every player gets their place in a photo they will want to keep forever.

Wall Keepsake Banners

A wall keepsake banner is the perfect way to preserve a great season long after the final siren. Display it in the clubrooms, gift it to a loyal volunteer or long-serving player, or hang it at home as a permanent reminder of what the Tigers achieved together.

Grand Final Banners

When the Grovedale Tigers make the grand final, the occasion demands something special. Our grand final banners are designed for the biggest game of the year and give every player the send-off they have earned after a whole season of hard work.

About Grovedale Tigers Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Grovedale Tigers Football and Netball Club has roots extending back to 1893, when a football club called Germantown - named for the German-heritage township that would later become Grovedale - first appeared in records of the Geelong Advertiser. The earliest surviving match record for the Germantown Football Club dates to 16 May 1893, a report of a match against Winchelsea. The club underwent various name changes: Germantown became South Barwon in 1911 when local identity shifted, and then in 1920 Grovedale formed a new football side before the present-day club was formally established as Marshall Football Club in 1947. In 1956 the club expanded to become Marshall-Grovedale, and in 1970 the name was permanently changed to the Grovedale Football Club, establishing the identity the club carries today.

Club History

After several decades in the Geelong and District Football League, Grovedale was one of the 12 founding clubs of the Geelong Football League (GFL) when that competition formed in 1979. The club has competed in the GFL ever since, making finals on seven occasions in the competition's history. Their best GFL season came in 2013 when the Tigers were runners-up, narrowly missing the premiership in what was the club's most successful modern campaign. The Tigers' premiership record includes the 1963 Jarman Cup (GDFL) and flags from 1975 and 1977 in the Geelong and District Football League era, as well as their seconds team winning the 1909 grand final in the Freshwater Creek DFA predecessor competition. The club's netball program has also been a strong feature of the broader Grovedale Football and Netball Club.

Home Ground

Grovedale Tigers play their home matches at Burdoo Reserve in Grovedale, a suburb in the outer south-western reaches of Geelong. Burdoo Reserve has served as the club's primary home ground and provides facilities for both football and netball as well as club social functions throughout the season. The reserve is well-maintained and reflects the strong community investment that has characterised the Grovedale area as it has grown from a rural township into a fully urban suburb over the past half-century.

Community and Programs

Grovedale Tigers fields senior men's and women's football teams in the Geelong Football League, as well as a comprehensive netball program across multiple grades. Junior football provides the next generation of Tigers with a pathway from Auskick through to the senior ranks, continuing a tradition of local football development that stretches back more than a century in the Grovedale district. The club's combined football and netball model is typical of Victorian country and suburban clubs, and creates a broad membership community that spans multiple sports and demographics throughout the Grovedale area.

Grovedale

Grovedale is a suburb in Geelong's southern urban area, situated approximately 8 kilometres south-west of the Geelong CBD in the City of Greater Geelong. The suburb developed through the 1960s and 1970s as Geelong expanded southward, transforming from semi-rural land to residential housing. Grovedale is bordered by Highton, Waurn Ponds, Marshall, and Charlemont, and sits close to Geelong's southern motorway connections. The area has continued to grow as part of the broader expansion of Geelong's southern suburbs, and the City of Greater Geelong as a whole has a population exceeding 280,000 residents, making it Victoria's second-largest city and one of Australia's fastest-growing regional centres.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
