About Prahran Two Blues Junior Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Prahran Junior Football Club (PJFC) has its roots in the rich history of the Prahran Football Club, one of the most storied clubs in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). The official starting point for organised junior football at Prahran was 1975, though early foundations were laid by Kevin Sheedy - Prahran's most iconic figure - who played his first senior game for the club in 1964 at just 16 years of age before going on to a 251-game playing career at Richmond and then 27 years as Essendon's head coach from 1981 to 2007. Sheedy became actively involved with the junior club in 1977, helping to form the Spartan League Under 15 competition with Prahran as one of the founding clubs alongside Abbotsford, AJAX, Richmond, and Port Melbourne.
The junior club's history is described as "stop-start" in the club's own records, but from the late 1990s it grew into a large and thriving organisation. A Community Sports Program launched in 1999 - the first of its kind in a metropolitan area in Australia - spread awareness of the club to neighbouring primary schools and was endorsed in a Stonnington Council consultants' report in 2002 as an ideal model for junior sport. Today PJFC carries the proud motto "Passionate Community Participation" and is one of the larger junior clubs in the inner Melbourne area.

Club History
The Two Blues have accumulated an impressive premiership record across all age groups. The club's first documented flag was the Under 11s in 1981, followed by premierships in the Under 15s Division 2 (2002), Under 13s B Division (2003), Under 12s South (2009), Under 11s South (2011), and a landmark double premiership year in 2012 with the Under 11 Reds and Under 14s both taking flags. In 2013 the club was crowned in three separate age groups - Under 13s, Under 10s, and Under 9s (twice). Further success came with the Under 13s Girls Division 1 (2014), Youth Girls Under 18s (2016), Under 15s Division 2 (2017), U18 Girls (2022), and U18 Boys (2023). Season 2023 was a standout year under president Ben Apted, with 28 teams fielded and six premierships won across the age groups.
The club competes in the South Metro Junior Football League (formerly the Waverley District Junior Football League until 2008, then the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League from 2009, renamed in 2012). By 2022, the club had grown to more than 650 children across 27 teams, reflecting the enormous community support the Two Blues have built in inner Melbourne.

Home Ground
The Prahran Junior Football Club trains and plays at Toorak Park on Orrong Road in Armadale. This well-equipped inner-suburban ground is shared with the Prahran Football Club senior and women's teams. Famous Friday Night Training sessions - sponsored in recent years by Grill'd - are a highlight of the PJFC calendar, bringing families and the community together in a relaxed, social atmosphere each week during the season.

Community and Programs
PJFC fields junior teams from the youngest Auskick-level players through to Under 18s, including multiple girls' teams that have grown year on year since the mid-2010s. The club runs an Auskick centre at Toorak Park and has strong connections with local primary schools across the City of Stonnington. The club's Community Sports Program, which conducted clinics at local schools up to six times a year in its early years, helped embed the PJFC name as a trusted part of the Prahran community.

Prahran and Armadale
Prahran and Armadale are adjacent inner-southern suburbs in the City of Stonnington, located approximately 4 kilometres south-east of Melbourne's central business district. The area is one of Melbourne's most cosmopolitan inner-city neighbourhoods, known for its vibrant dining scene on Chapel Street and Greville Street, and its mix of Victorian-era housing and modern apartments. Toorak Park, home to the Two Blues, sits at the heart of Armadale and is one of Melbourne's most picturesque suburban sporting reserves.
