About Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club (Hawks) is one of Perth's most successful and long-standing junior football clubs, founded in 1971 as the "Sorrento/Whitford Junior Football Club" with seven teams. The club was renamed the "Sorrento Junior Football Club" in 1976 with 12 teams, then again renamed to "Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club" in 1978, the name it carries today. Mal Lothian was the first President of the SDJFC.

Club History

Since its founding in 1971, the Sorrento Duncraig Hawks have built one of the most impressive records in Perth junior football. The club has achieved over 30 open grade premierships and has been awarded Champion Club of the District in 1993, 1998, 2004, 2005 and 2009. The club has produced over 30 state representatives and a remarkable list of AFL-listed alumni. Former junior members who went on to play in the AFL include Matt Priddis (West Coast Eagles), Jack Darling (West Coast Eagles), Daniel Rich (Brisbane Lions), Ian Perrier (Adelaide), Todd Ridley (Essendon) and Adam Cockie (West Coast Eagles). AusKick at the club launched in 1987 with 42 boys and girls participating, growing to 527 registered players in 2016.

Home Ground

The Sorrento Duncraig Hawks have two primary grounds. The Percy Doyle Reserve clubrooms were opened on 2 September 1989 at a cost of $180,000, with a pergola area added in 1993 - construction was funded jointly by the SDJFC, the Wanneroo T-Ball club, the City of Wanneroo, and the Department of Sport and Recreation. A second facility, the Sorrento Clubrooms at Seacrest Park, was opened on 15 May 2011. Both grounds serve different sections of the club's extensive junior football and netball program across the Sorrento and Duncraig communities.

Community and Programs

The Hawks field junior teams across all age groups from AusKick (Pre-Primary to Year 2) through to Opens (Year 7 to Year 12), with dedicated Girls Only programs from Year 3 to Year 12 and a Starkick program for participants aged 5 to 18. The club's football pathways have produced multiple state representatives and AFL-level players, and it maintains strong connections with senior football clubs in the northern Perth corridor. The club is a foundation of the Sorrento and Duncraig community sporting landscape.

Sorrento and Duncraig, Perth

Sorrento and Duncraig are coastal northern suburbs of Perth in the City of Joondalup, Western Australia. Sorrento is located approximately 22 kilometres north of Perth's CBD and is known for its ocean beach, Sorrento Quay marina precinct and family-friendly residential character. Duncraig sits immediately to the east, a well-established suburb known for quality schools and parks. Both suburbs are part of Perth's northern coastal corridor, an affluent and family-oriented residential zone that has produced significant sporting talent over several decades.

The Hawks compete in Perth junior football and call Percy Doyle Reserve and Seacrest Park home. Visit the club website for more information and follow them on social media for news and match day updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
