About South Coogee Junior Football Club
Origins and Founding
The South Coogee Junior Football Club (SCJFC), known as the Saints, was established in 1972 and is one of the oldest junior football clubs in the south-western district of Perth. Operating within the City of Cockburn, the club provides Australian rules football opportunities for boys and girls from pre-primary through to Year 12. The club adopted the Saints nickname in homage to the tradition of junior football in the broader Fremantle district, and in 2022 celebrated its 50th anniversary of serving the Coogee community and surrounds. The SCJFC acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which the club gathers and plays.
Club History
Since its founding in 1972, South Coogee Junior FC has grown into one of the district's most active junior clubs, currently fielding approximately 650 boys and girls each season. In 2017, the club proudly launched its All Girls Program, providing dedicated football pathways for female players of all ages, which has grown steadily each year since its inception. The club also operates an Auskick program for pre-primary through Year 2 children, a KidSport-eligible program to support participation, and a Starkick disability inclusion initiative, welcoming players of all abilities. The Saints compete under the South Fremantle District Junior Football Association.
Home Ground
The Saints play their home games at Asquith Street Reserve in Lake Coogee, WA 6166, located within the southern coastal corridor of the City of Cockburn. The reserve provides a family-friendly match-day environment, with training and match day activities drawing players and families from across the Coogee, Munster, South Coogee, and Coolbellup communities. The ground sits close to the Coogee beachfront and is accessible from Cockburn Road.
Community and Programs
South Coogee Junior FC is a community-first club built around the involvement of dedicated volunteers, local businesses, and family supporters. The club operates junior football registration from early in the year, with player transfers accepted from the official transfer window opening in February each year. The Starkick program exemplifies the club's inclusive approach, with the guiding mantra "If you want to play, we'll find a way." Beyond on-field activities, the SCJFC supports social events, end-of-season presentations, and fundraising activities throughout the year.
Coogee
Coogee is a coastal suburb of Perth located approximately 23 kilometres south of the Perth CBD and 9 kilometres south of Fremantle, within the City of Cockburn. The suburb has a population of approximately 5,300 people and is known for its beaches, the Coogee Beach foreshore reserve, and recreational boating at Coogee Harbour. The surrounding area includes the suburbs of Munster, South Coogee, and Coolbellup, forming part of Perth's established southern coastal corridor.
The Saints compete in the South Fremantle District Junior Football Association and call Asquith Street Reserve home. Visit the club's website at scjfc.com.au, follow them on Facebook, or on Instagram.
Footy Banner Information
Material: All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
