From junior milestones to grand final glory, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that put the spotlight on Wembley Downs Cats players and their achievements. Personalised with the player's name, guernsey number, and milestone, every banner is a unique keepsake for the whole Cats community to celebrate in Perth's northern suburbs.
Simple to Order
Select a Single Player Banner, Two Player Banner, Team Banner, or Grand Final Banner - then provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone (for example, Ryan Chen, #8, 100 Games). All banners are made with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to shine on a blazing WA afternoon at the Cats' home ground.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Cats players reach the same milestone in the same match, a Two Player Banner brings both names and guernsey numbers together on one quality banner - a perfect moment for the whole club to celebrate together.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
A Team Banner showcases 3 to 6 players and is the perfect way to mark a group milestone or a big premiership run. Include a custom top-line message like "Go Cats of Wembley Downs!" and let FootyBanners.com deliver the finishing touch.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, Wall Keepsake Banners are crafted on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks - ideal for displaying in the clubrooms, garage, or games room as a lasting tribute to every Cats player's contribution.
Grand Final Banners
Measuring 4.5m or 5.5m, Grand Final Banners can be fully customised with top and bottom text to capture the energy of the Cats' biggest day. Contact FootyBanners.com for expert design advice for Wembley Downs Cats Football Club's next grand final.
About Wembley Downs Junior Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Wembley Downs Junior Football Club (WDJFC), known as the Cats, is a community junior Australian rules football club based in the western suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The club provides structured football pathways from Auskick through to under-18 youth football for boys and girls across the Wembley Downs and surrounding suburbs. The Cats compete in the Subiaco District / Metro North Junior Football competition and have developed a strong reputation as a community-first club with robust ties to the WAFL pathway via Claremont Football Club and Subiaco. The club is run entirely by volunteers committed to developing young players in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Club History
The Wembley Downs JFC has grown significantly in recent years, reaching 623 registered members in 2025, including 157 female players and 151 Auskickers attending sessions across 20 schools at Luketina Reserve each Saturday morning. The club fields 22 teams - 6 female and 16 male - across all junior age groups. The Cats have had notable success at grand final level in multiple age groups and produce a steady stream of players into WAFL development programs. Port Adelaide AFL forward Mitch Georgiades began his junior football journey with the Wembley Downs Football Club before progressing through the WAFL pathway with Subiaco, where he was part of a 2018 premiership team before being drafted by Port Adelaide with pick 18 in the 2018 AFL Draft. The Cats also have a formal pathway relationship with the Claremont Football Club, which has seen numerous juniors represent the club in WAFL development squads.
Home Ground
The Wembley Downs JFC uses Luketina Reserve as its primary training and match day venue for Auskick and junior programs. Luketina Reserve is located in the Wembley Downs area and provides oval facilities and basic amenities for the club's large junior membership. The club also utilises additional reserves in the local area for its growing number of teams across male and female age groups. Wembley Downs JFC works closely with the City of Stirling council, which manages the network of local sporting reserves in the area.
Community and Programs
The club runs a comprehensive Auskick program in partnership with AFL WA, operating at 20 local schools across the district each Saturday morning. The girls program has seen exceptional growth - increasing from 93 female players to 157 in a single year - reflecting strong community demand for female football pathways in the western suburbs. The club values developing skills over winning, with its core philosophy centred on fun, respect, inclusiveness and effort. The Cats work closely with Claremont FC (WAFL) as their nominated junior feeder club, providing a clear pathway from community football to elite competition in Western Australia.
Wembley Downs
Wembley Downs is a leafy residential suburb in the City of Stirling local government area, located approximately 9 to 10 kilometres west-northwest of Perth's CBD. The suburb had a population of 6,743 at the 2021 Census, with estimates placing the population at around 7,500 in 2025. Wembley Downs is known for its quiet, tree-lined streets, the Wembley Downs Golf Club (one of Perth's well-regarded courses), and proximity to the Indian Ocean beaches of Scarborough and City Beach. The suburb is served by buses connecting to the Stirling and Glendalough train stations on the Joondalup Line.
The Cats compete in the Subiaco District Junior Football competition and call Luketina Reserve home. Visit the club website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and registration updates.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
