West Croydon Hawks Banners - Soaring to Every Milestone Together
From the first game to the biggest milestone, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that capture everything the West Croydon Hawks stand for. Whether it's a junior player's 50th game or a senior legend hitting a century, every Hawks achievement is worth celebrating with a banner to match.
Simple to Order
Ordering your Hawks banner is quick and simple. Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. For player banners, just supply the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Liam Shaw, #9, 150 Games. All banners are made with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to hold up under a blazing Adelaide summer afternoon at the oval.
Two Players, One Banner
If two West Croydon Hawks players are reaching the same milestone at the same time, our Two Player Banner is the perfect way to recognise both. Provide each player's name and guernsey number - they'll need to be celebrating the same milestone - and we'll produce a quality banner that honours both players together.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Our Team Banner option covers 3 to 6 players in one banner - great for a milestone round or end-of-season celebrations. A top-line message like "West Croydon Hawks - Season Award Winners" makes for a standout club moment that players and families will remember fondly.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Perfect for displaying in the Hawks clubrooms or a player's home, these banners make for a beautiful lasting reminder of what was achieved in the famous Hawks guernsey.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final Banners can be customised with the West Croydon Hawks' own top and bottom text. Contact us for design advice and we'll make sure your banner is ready to make an impact when the team runs through it.
About West Croydon Hawks Football Club
Origins and Founding
The West Croydon Football Club was established in 1961, drawing its name and early membership from the inner western Adelaide suburb of West Croydon. The club competed initially in the North Norwood Football Association (NNFA) for over a decade before making the transition to the broader South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) - now known as the Adelaide Footy League - in 1974. The club's nickname, the Hawks, reflects a proud identity that has remained constant through more than six decades of competition. Today the club operates under its long-standing base at Fawk Reserve in the suburb of Athol Park.
Club History
Since joining the Adelaide Footy League in 1974, West Croydon has built a solid record of competition across the SAAFL and AFL structure. The club has claimed six premierships across its history, with their most recent flag coming in 2010. In the years since, the Hawks have remained finals contenders - reaching the Division 6 Grand Final in both 2016 and 2019, though falling short of a premiership on each occasion. The club has developed a reputation as a resilient community club that punches consistently above its weight in the lower divisions of the Adelaide Footy League, drawing on strong local support and a culture built around long-serving members. Veterans such as Luke Francis, who dedicated over 20 years to the club, exemplify the loyalty and continuity that define the West Croydon identity.
Home Ground
The West Croydon Hawks play their home games at Fawk Reserve, located in the suburb of Athol Park in Adelaide's north-west. The reserve serves as both a training and match-day base for the club's football and netball programs, providing a central meeting point for players and supporters from across the western and north-western Adelaide suburbs. The ground is well-established within the local community as a hub for grassroots sport.
Community and Programs
Beyond football, West Croydon fields a successful netball program, with teams competing in the South Australian United Netball competition. The club's netball section has celebrated significant recent success, with the netball side claiming a premiership in recent seasons - a result celebrated broadly across the club community. The combination of football and netball under one club roof reflects West Croydon's role as a genuine multi-sport community organisation. The club fields teams across multiple age groups, providing junior and senior pathways for players throughout the north-western Adelaide corridor.
West Croydon and Athol Park
West Croydon is an inner western suburb of Adelaide, located approximately 5 kilometres west of the Adelaide CBD with a population of around 4,242 people (2021 census). It is a well-established residential suburb known for its mix of period homes, local shopping strips, and proximity to the Adelaide Park Lands. While the club takes its name from West Croydon, it is based at Fawk Reserve in neighbouring Athol Park - a compact north-western suburb of around 2,023 residents (2021 census) sitting within the City of Charles Sturt council area, approximately 9.5 kilometres from the city centre. Both communities form part of the club's supporter base and playing cohort.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
