Apollo Bay Hawks Banners - Celebrating the Great Ocean Road's Finest

From milestone games to grand final run-throughs along the Great Ocean Road, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners worthy of the proud Apollo Bay Hawks. Give your player the send-off they deserve with a banner made to last.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner formats. To personalise your banner, simply provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Cameron Kelly, #1, 150 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner will hold up through every cold and blustery Victorian winter afternoon at Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Hawks hitting the same milestone in the one game? Our Two Player banner lets you celebrate both players together on a single banner. Provide each player's name, guernsey number, and the milestone being reached for a shared celebration.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honour 3 to 6 players at once with our Team Banner option. A banner reading "Apollo Bay Hawks - Our Champions" is perfect for a presentation night, a premiership celebration, or any major milestone event the Hawks community wants to mark.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, our Wall Keepsake Banners are made from thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that stand the test of time. Hang them in the Hawks clubrooms, the garage, or at home overlooking the coast - a proud reminder of a great career.

Grand Final Banners

Make finals day spectacular with a Grand Final banner in 4.5m or 5.5m, fully customised with your top and bottom message. Get in touch for design advice and help the Apollo Bay Football Netball Club run out looking absolutely brilliant.

About Apollo Bay Hawks Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Apollo Bay Football Netball Club was founded in 1935 and played in the Polwarth Football League for several decades before that competition disbanded. In 1972, the Hawks joined the Colac and District Football Netball League (CDFNL), where they have competed ever since. Based on Victoria's iconic Great Ocean Road, the Hawks bring together the tight-knit communities of the Apollo Bay area each season in what is one of the most scenic sporting settings in regional Victoria.

Club History and Premierships

The Hawks have won two CDFNL senior football premierships, in 1984 and 2004. The 2004 grand final was a commanding performance: Apollo Bay defeated Lorne 23.17 (155) to 12.11 (83), winning by 72 points. The club celebrated the 1984 and 2004 premiership sides together at a reunion in May 2024. Apollo Bay has also achieved success in CDFNL netball competitions, with the women's program a strong part of the club's overall identity.

Notable Players

Rahni Buchanan stands as one of the Hawks' most celebrated players. He won five club best and fairest awards during his time at Apollo Bay, played in three CDFNL premierships, kicked seven goals in the 2004 grand final, and captained the side in 2006 and 2007. Buchanan was also recognised in the CDFNL All-Time Top 20 Players list, cementing his place as one of the league's finest performers of his era.

Home Ground

The Hawks play their home games at the Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve, which overlooks the bay from its position in the heart of town. The reserve serves as the central sporting facility for Apollo Bay, hosting both football and netball throughout the season. The combination of a working fishing harbour and the Otway Ranges as a backdrop makes the ground one of the most distinctive in regional Victoria.

Apollo Bay and the Great Ocean Road

Apollo Bay is a coastal town situated along the Great Ocean Road in the Colac Otway Shire of Victoria, roughly 180 kilometres southwest of Melbourne. The town recorded a population of 1,790 in the 2021 Census and is one of the most visited stops on the Great Ocean Road corridor, which attracts more than seven million visitors annually. Known for its fishing harbour, Otway Ranges hinterland, and strong community character, Apollo Bay's year-round population is supplemented by significant seasonal tourism.

The Hawks compete in the Colac and District Football Netball League and call the Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve home. Visit the official Apollo Bay Hawks website for fixtures, news, and membership information. Follow the Hawks on Facebook for club updates and match day news. 📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
