Newlyn Cats Banners - Central Highlands Football Milestones Worth Celebrating

Whether a Cat is hitting 100 games or the club is pushing for finals glory in the Central Highlands, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that make every milestone count. Order yours today and celebrate in proper Newlyn style.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Mick Ryan, #4, 150 Games. All banners are made with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper that holds its own through a bitter Central Highlands winter without missing a beat.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Cats reach the same milestone together, our Two Player Banner puts them both front and centre. Just provide both names and guernsey numbers and we'll produce a quality dual banner the Newlyn faithful will love.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For 3 to 6 players celebrating together, our Team Banner brings every name together in one great display. Feature a top-line message like "Up the Cats!" and honour every player being recognised. A fantastic choice for a milestone round or end-of-season presentation night.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that last for years. Hang a Newlyn Cats keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or games room as a permanent reminder of a great season.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text, our Grand Final Banners are built for the biggest days in the competition. Contact us for design advice and let FootyBanners.com help Newlyn Cats Football Club charge through the banner on grand final day.

About Newlyn Cats Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Newlyn Football Netball Club was established in 1900, with organised competition beginning the following year in the Creswick District Football Association. One of the founding member clubs of the Central Highlands Football League (CHFL), the club has competed across multiple league formations since its earliest years. Prior to 1932, Newlyn competed in 14 different competitions covering the district around Creswick, winning five premierships before helping establish the Clunes Football Association in 1931.

Club History

The Cats have accumulated 18 premierships across their history, including flags in 1903, 1906, 1907, 1913, 1920, 1927, 1928, 1932, 1935, 1936, 1938, 1949, 1962, 1969, 1970, 1975, 1992, and 2003. Between 1932 and 1938 alone, the team contested six out of seven grand finals, winning four. Their two CHFL-era premierships came in 1992 against Dunnstown and in 2003 against Buninyong. Three Newlyn players have gone on to VFL/AFL careers: David McKay played 263 games and won four premierships with Carlton after debuting in 1969; Brad Sewell played 200 games for Hawthorn; and Myles Sewell won the J. J. Liston Trophy playing for North Ballarat in the VFL. Sean Willmott also reached Essendon at AFL level.

Home Ground

The Cats play their home games at Newlyn Recreation Reserve in Newlyn. The ground has undergone recent upgrades including the installation of competition-standard LED lighting, enabling evening training sessions and fixtures. The reserve serves as the central hub for both the football and netball arms of the club throughout the season.

Community and Programs

The Newlyn Football Netball Club fields junior teams from the under-12 level through to seniors, providing a development pathway for young players from the local area. The club also runs a senior netball program that competes in local competition each season. As a combined football and netball club, Newlyn FNC is a central part of community life in the area, bringing families and supporters together at the reserve on match days throughout the year.

Newlyn

Newlyn is a small town in the Central Highlands of Victoria, situated within the Shire of Hepburn. The town recorded a population of 136 at the 2021 census and sits on the Midland Highway, approximately 27 kilometres northeast of Ballarat and 10 kilometres east of Creswick. • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
