About Hampton Rovers Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Hampton Rovers Amateur Football Club was founded in 1929 and played its first competitive season in 1933. Based in the bayside suburb of Hampton, 14 kilometres south-east of Melbourne's CBD, the Rovers have been one of the Victorian Amateur Football Association's (VAFA) most active and successful community clubs for nearly a century. The club competes in the VAFA's Premier C division and also fields teams in the South Metro Junior Football League.

Club History
Hampton Rovers has accumulated more than 60 premierships across its history in VAFA competition - one of the most impressive tallies in the association. The club has a strong tradition of producing players who go on to the highest level of the game, with an extensive list of AFL alumni including Angus Brayshaw (Melbourne), Andrew Brayshaw (Fremantle), Hamish Brayshaw (West Coast), Brayden Maynard (Collingwood), Christian Salem (Melbourne), Karl Amon (Port Adelaide), and Chris Dawes (Collingwood, Melbourne). The club anthem "Beside the Seaside" reflects the Rovers' connection to Hampton's coastal character.
In a landmark moment for women's football in Victoria, Hampton Rovers hosted the first-ever VAFA Women's match in 2017, played under lights at Boss James Reserve. By 2019, the club fielded seven female teams including five junior girls sides, an Under-18s team, and a senior women's side, reflecting the club's strong commitment to expanding participation.

Home Ground
The Rovers play out of Boss James Reserve in Hampton, a well-appointed community ground close to Port Phillip Bay that serves as the hub of the club's activities. The ground hosts men's, women's, and junior matches throughout the season and has been the club's home for decades.

Community and Programs
With more than 600 boys and girls participating in the South Metro Junior Football League under the Rovers' banner, Hampton is one of bayside Melbourne's largest junior football programs. The club has maintained an active presence in local media and community life across the City of Bayside, building a loyal following through generations of Hampton families.
