About Blackwood Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Blackwood Football Club, known as the Mighty Woods, traces its roots to the Coromandel Football Club, established in 1882. The club adopted the Blackwood name in 1912 as the suburb's identity solidified around the township. In 1920 the club joined the Mid-Southern Football Association, beginning decades of local competition in the Adelaide Hills. The Blackwood FC today encompasses men's, women's, and junior football alongside a netball program, making it one of the largest community sport clubs in the Adelaide Hills.
Club History
Blackwood joined the Sturt District Football Association in 1949, winning premierships in 1950 and 1952 before returning to local Hills competition. The club moved to its current home at Blackwood Hill Oval (formerly known as the Hewett Sports Ground) in 1978. The Woods now compete in the Hills Football League, one of South Australia's largest community football competitions. The club has a long and successful history in junior grades, winning multiple boys' and girls' premierships in both the SANFL Juniors and Hills Football League competition.
Home Ground
Blackwood FC plays its home games at Blackwood Hill Oval, located on Trevor Terrace in Blackwood. The ground has been the club's home since 1978 and sits in the heart of the Blackwood township, providing an accessible and central venue for the Hills community. The oval is maintained to a high standard and hosts top-grade Hills Football League matches throughout the season.
Community and Programs
Blackwood FC currently fields 25 men's and women's sides ranging from under-8s to seniors, with over 498 registered players and more than 700 members. The club offers AFL Auskick for young children and provides competitive football pathways for players right through to senior level. The women's and girls' program has grown significantly, and the club hosts regular community events that bring together players, families, and supporters from across the Blackwood and Mitchell Park areas.

Footy Banner Information
All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.
We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
