About Salisbury North Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Salisbury North Football Club - known as the Hawks - was founded in 1954 by residents who had moved into South Australian Housing Trust homes in the growing Salisbury North area. The club's earliest kit was donated by the South Adelaide Football Club, and the original clubrooms were fashioned from wooden packing cases sourced from the General Motors Holden factory - a reflection of the working-class origins of the Salisbury North community. These humble facilities were later replaced with a brick clubroom structure as the club grew.
Club History
Salisbury North began their competitive football life in the Gawler Football League from 1954 to 1960, before joining the Central District Football Association in 1961 where they competed until 1978. In 1979 the club transferred to the South Australian Football Association (SAFA), and in 1995 joined the Adelaide Footy League (AdFL) - then known as the South Australian Amateur Football League - where they remain today. In 2026 the Hawks compete in Division 1 of the Adelaide Footy League, placing them among the top clubs in the metropolitan competition.
Home Ground
The Hawks play their home games at Salisbury North Oval in Salisbury North, South Australia. The ground has served the club since their early years in the northern suburbs competition and continues to host both senior and junior matches throughout the football season.
Community and Programs
Salisbury North Football Club has deep roots in the local community, having been formed by families who moved into the area during South Australia's post-war Housing Trust expansion. The club runs junior programs that provide a pathway for young players in the Salisbury North area, and maintains an active presence through social media for supporters and members alike.
Salisbury North
Salisbury North is a suburb in the City of Salisbury, located approximately 20 kilometres north of the Adelaide CBD. The area was developed significantly in the post-World War II era through South Australian Housing Trust construction, giving it a strong community character built around working-class families. The suburb is part of the broader Salisbury region, one of Adelaide's largest northern residential areas, with a diverse and proud community that has supported the Hawks for more than 70 years.
The Hawks compete in Division 1 of the Adelaide Footy League and call Salisbury North Oval home. Visit the club website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.
Footy Banner Information
All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.
We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
