About Gepps Cross Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Gepps Cross Football Club - known as the Rams - was formed in 1952 and is one of the longer-established clubs in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The club initially played in the North Adelaide District Football Association, using a tin shed behind the Gepps Cross Hotel as its first change rooms. In 1961 the Rams moved to their permanent base at Duncan Fraser Reserve in Northfield, which remains their home today. Full details of the club's history can be found at the official Gepps Cross Football Club website and on the Northgate Community and Sports Club history page.
Club History
After more than two decades in the North Adelaide District Football Association (later renamed the Norwood North Football Association), Gepps Cross joined the South Australian Football Association (SAFA) in 1978 and won the SAFA premiership in 1982. In 1984 the club joined the South Australian Amateur Football League (now the Adelaide Footy League) and celebrated their first SAAFL season with a Division 5 premiership. The Rams continued their upward trajectory, winning the Division 2 premiership in 2002 to gain promotion to Division 1 of the Adelaide Footy League, where the club has competed at the top metropolitan level.
Home Ground
The Rams play at Duncan Fraser Reserve in Northfield, South Australia. The club moved to this ground in 1961 and it has served as their permanent home for more than 60 years. The reserve provides facilities for the Rams' senior, reserves, and junior teams and is closely connected with the Northgate Community and Sports Club, which shares the precinct.
Community and Programs
Gepps Cross Football Club runs junior programs that give young players in the Northfield and Gepps Cross area a pathway into Australian rules football. The club maintains strong ties to the Northgate Community and Sports Club and actively builds its community presence through events and programs throughout the football year.
Northfield and Gepps Cross
Northfield is a northern suburb of Adelaide located within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, approximately 7 kilometres north of the city centre. The nearby Gepps Cross area, which gives the club its name, sits at the junction of Main North Road and Port Wakefield Road - one of Adelaide's most recognisable northern intersections. The area has a working-class character shaped by its industrial and commercial history, and the football club has served as an important community anchor for local families since its founding in 1952.
The Rams compete in the Adelaide Footy League and call Duncan Fraser Reserve, Northfield, their home. Visit the Gepps Cross website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.
Footy Banner Information
All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.
We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
