About Boddington Football Club
Origins and Founding
Boddington Football Club was formed in 1946, initially fielding teams in the Narrogin Football Association before becoming a founding member of the Upper Great Southern Football League when it was created in 1959 from a merger of the Wagin and Narrogin town competitions, according to Wikipedia's history of the league. Nicknamed the Eagles, the club has been based at Boddington Town Oval ever since, representing the small Peel region community through more than six decades of competition.
 
Club History
The Eagles have claimed 10 Upper Great Southern Football League premierships, the most recent in 2024 when Boddington defeated Wickepin 11.11 (77) to 7.11 (53) in the grand final. The club enjoyed a dominant run from 1989 to 1991, winning three consecutive flags, and added further premierships in 1995 and 2002. A modern era of success followed with back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019, the latter a 14.14 (98) to 11.12 (78) win over Narrogin, before a tight 2022 grand final victory over Wickepin decided by a single point, 8.8 (56) to 8.7 (55). Boddington has also finished runner-up on five occasions, most recently in 2013, making it one of the most consistent finalists in the competition's history.
 
Home Ground
Boddington Town Oval has served as the Eagles' home ground throughout the club's time in the Upper Great Southern Football League, hosting home and away fixtures for the club's senior sides each season.
 
Community and Programs
The club runs an active Auskick program for its youngest players, sending three junior teams, including two Under-8 sides, to the 2026 Pingelly Auskick Carnival, where young Eagle Ruben Berlund won Best and Fairest and Lucas Bailey took out the Future Players Award. The junior program is coordinated locally by Jarryd and Jayne Ventris. Junior netball in the town runs closely alongside the football club through the Boddington Netball Association, coordinated by Diana Jemmerson, giving local children a pathway into both sports.
 
Boddington, Western Australia
Boddington is a town in the Shire of Boddington, in the Peel region of Western Australia, situated on the Hotham River around 123 kilometres southeast of Perth. The town recorded a population of 1,844 at the 2016 census and takes its name from early settler Henry Boddington. Once a timber and sheep district, the town was transformed by the arrival of bauxite mining in 1979 and the opening of the Boddington Gold Mine in 1987, and it now also hosts an annual rodeo each November.
