About Mosman Park Mozzies Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Mosman Park Football Club has roots stretching back to 1906, when a local football club was established in the Cottesloe area under the name Cottesloe Beach Football Club. The club continued to develop through the early decades of Perth football, becoming formally known as the Mosman Park Football Club in 1946 when the local suburb was renamed. The club has since become a beloved institution in the western suburbs of Perth, earning the nickname "Mozzies" - a nod to the mosquito. The club competes in the Perth Football League (PFL), one of Western Australia's premier amateur football competitions.
Club History
Over more than a century of competition, the Mozzies have accumulated five Perth Football League premierships, including an A Grade title in 1951 and a B Grade premiership in 1973. After a period away from the competition, the club returned in 1998 and has been a regular participant in the PFL ever since. The Mozzies field teams across multiple grades including C1, Reserves, and the IDC competition, and have continued to challenge for honours in recent seasons, including a premiership as recently as 2023. The club operates alongside the Mosman Park Junior Football Club (MPJFC), which provides a strong development pathway for young players in the area.
Home Ground
The Mozzies play their home games at Tom Perrott Reserve on McCabe Street in Mosman Park. The ground sits in one of Perth's most picturesque settings, close to the Swan River estuary and within the leafy, established streetscape of the western suburbs. The facility supports both the senior and junior football programs and serves as the hub for the Mosman Park football community.
Community and Programs
The Mosman Park Junior Football Club operates alongside the senior club, giving local children a pathway into the game from an early age. The MPJFC fields girls' teams and has recently introduced a Year 11/12 boys team, reflecting a commitment to expanding football opportunities for young players. The broader club has also fielded a women's side, making it a genuinely inclusive football community. In 2025, the club celebrated over 100 years of football in Mosman Park with a community weekend event at Tom Perrott Reserve and Mann Oval.
Mosman Park
Mosman Park is an affluent western suburb of Perth located approximately 15 kilometres from the Perth CBD and 5 kilometres north of Fremantle. -
-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
