About Brigades Hawks
Origins and Founding
The Brigades Hawks Football Club was established in 1909 in Geraldton, Western Australia, making it one of the oldest Australian rules football clubs in the Mid West region. The club originally competed in the Geraldton Football Association (GNFA) and, in 1961, became a foundation club of the Great Northern Football League (GNFL) when the GNFA merged with the Northampton-Upper Chapman Football Association. The club's name reflects its historical ties to the fire brigades community of Geraldton, and the Hawks nickname has been carried proudly for generations.

Club History
Since joining the GNFL in 1961, Brigades have claimed 8 senior premierships: 1962, 1971, 1986, 1988, 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2025. The Hawks were particularly strong during the 1960s and 1980s, and they have maintained their competitiveness into the 21st century, winning flags in 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2025. The back-to-back success in 2021 and the 2025 premiership confirm Brigades as one of the GNFL's most consistent modern clubs. The club competes against other Geraldton-based clubs including Railway, Rovers, and Towns, as well as country sides from Mullewa, Northampton, and Chapman Valley.

The Brigades Hawks play their home games at GBSC Sports Park, located in the Spalding area of Geraldton. The ground serves as the central hub for the club's senior football program and is one of several quality facilities serving the Geraldton football community. The GNFL uses multiple venues across the region to accommodate its member clubs throughout the season.
