Whether it's a 50-game milestone, a special birthday, or a season to remember, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners for Broadbeach Cats supporters and players. Show your pride in the Cats with a banner built just for the occasion.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Just provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Lachlan Carey, #11, 100 Games. Your banner is printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper - built to withstand a sweltering Queensland afternoon on the Gold Coast.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Cats hit a milestone in the same game, our Two Player Banner captures both achievements on a single quality banner. Just supply both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll take care of the rest.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
The Team Banner option features 3 to 6 players, making it ideal for end-of-season presentations or group milestones. A top-line message like "Go Cats - Mermaid Waters Proud" sets the tone for the whole celebration. A great way to honour your squad together.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Whether it ends up in the Cats clubrooms, a garage, or a games room, it's a lasting reminder of the milestone. A proud keepsake for any Broadbeach Cats fan.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final Banners feature customised top and bottom text for your Broadbeach Cats AFC occasion. Contact us for design advice and we'll help you create something special for the big day.
About Broadbeach Cats
Origins and Founding
The Broadbeach Australian Football Club was founded in 1971 and first competed in the Gold Coast Amateur Football League (GCAFL). The club's debut season was played at the Surfers Paradise AFC ground on the Isle of Capri, where Broadbeach lost its first game. The club's first ever victory came on 14 May 1972, defeating Labrador. After early years sharing grounds, the Cats signed a 15-year lease with Albert Shire Council on 2 January 1978, and the current ground at Merrimac was officially opened on 24 June 1979. The club incorporated formally in 1987 and re-incorporated as the Broadbeach Sports and Recreation Centre Inc. in 2000 upon entering the QAFL.
Club History
The Broadbeach Cats made their first grand final appearance in 1976, losing to Southport Magpies. The club won its first senior premiership in 1987, defeating PBC (Palm Beach Currumbin), and claimed a second in 1996. After entering the QAFL in 2000, the Cats competed at Queensland's top grassroots level and ended a 26-year premiership drought by winning the 2021 QAFL title. Notable alumni who progressed to AFL include Nick Riewoldt, the #1 national pick in the 2000 AFL Draft, who went on to captain St Kilda, and Ricky Petterd, selected by Melbourne in 2006. Several Broadbeach juniors have also graduated through the Gold Coast Suns' Academy pathway in more recent years.
Home Ground
The Cats' home ground is Merrimac Oval, secured for the club through the efforts of long-time president Stan Brown and life member Harry Halkerston. Located in Merrimac, the oval has been the club's permanent base since 1979. The facility includes licensed clubrooms, a gymnasium, and training infrastructure. The club also makes use of Kombumerri Park and Merrimac High School for junior training programs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Community and Programs
Broadbeach AFC fields teams across multiple divisions including senior men's QAFL, women's QAFLW, and an extensive junior program from Auskick through to Under 18s. The Junior Club was voted Club of the Year in 2001. Girls football grew from 20 participants in 2018 to over 130 by 2021 following a major recruitment push led by Kelly Hardy. In 2026, the Cats entered the Bond University QAFLW competition, expanding the women's program to state league level. The club also runs recreational open-gender football in the off-season and maintains active school partnerships with local primary and high schools.
Mermaid Waters
Mermaid Waters is a suburb of the Gold Coast in South East Queensland, located approximately 75 km south of Brisbane. The Gold Coast is Australia's sixth-largest urban area, with a population approaching 750,000. The area is known internationally for its surf beaches, theme parks, and tourism industry, and is home to a growing AFL football community. The AFL Gold Coast Suns, who entered the competition in 2011, have significantly raised the profile of Australian rules football in the region.
The Cats compete in the QAFL and call Merrimac Oval home. Visit the club website, or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
