About West Coast Junior Football Club
Origins and Founding
West Coast Junior Football Club fields junior and youth Australian rules football teams out of City Beach Oval on Fred Burton Way, City Beach, and is affiliated with the West Coast Sporting Association and the Claremont District of the WA Football Commission. An exact founding year is not publicly recorded, but the club was already described as a long-established, financially sound body in council-level documentation lodged with the Town of Cambridge in 2009, confirming its status as one of the western suburbs' longer-running junior clubs.

Club History
The club's standout recent product is the Curtin family: brothers Dan Curtin and Cody Curtin both played their junior football at West Coast before progressing through Claremont's WAFL colts system into the AFL. Dan was drafted by the Adelaide Crows with pick 8 in the 2023 national draft and was named an AFL Rising Star nominee in 2025, while Cody followed him into the AFL when the Brisbane Lions selected him with pick 43 in the 2025 national draft, making his debut in round 8 of the 2026 season. At age-group level, West Coast's year 9 and year 10 sides were both crowned grand final champions during the 2025 season, as celebrated on the club's Facebook page.

Home Ground
Games are played at City Beach Oval on Fred Burton Way, City Beach, within the Town of Cambridge local government area. The club describes its home ground as lit to a standard suitable for WAFL-level football, allowing junior teams to experience night matches alongside their regular weekend fixtures. The oval and clubrooms are shared across every age group the club fields, from its youngest Auskick participants through to Year 12 youth football.

Community and Programs
West Coast runs a full pathway of programs from Auskick for Pre-Primary aged children through to Year 12 football, drawing families from City Beach, Wembley Downs, Floreat and the surrounding western suburbs of Perth. Coaching for Year 8 to 12 sides is delivered by senior players, and the club fields girls alongside boys across its junior and youth programs. City Beach
City Beach is a beachside suburb of Perth within the Town of Cambridge, about 10 kilometres north-west of the Perth CBD, with a population of 6,805 recorded in the 2021 census. Its central section was built as the athletes' village for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, staged nearby at Perry Lakes Stadium in neighbouring Floreat, and the suburb has since become one of Perth's more expensive coastal addresses. City Beach borders Scarborough, Wembley Downs, Floreat, Mount Claremont and Swanbourne, giving the junior football club a wide catchment of nearby beachside and western suburbs families.
