About Capalaba Warriors
Origins and Founding
The Capalaba District Junior Rugby League Football Club - known as the Capalaba Warriors - was established in 2000 to provide a local rugby league pathway for young players in the Capalaba and Redlands area of south-east Queensland. The club operates under the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and competes in Rugby League Brisbane district competitions. From its formation, the Warriors set out to build a family-friendly, community-based club that could grow alongside the expanding residential catchment of Capalaba and the surrounding Redlands suburbs.
Club History
Over more than two decades the Warriors have expanded their programs significantly. Originally fielding junior teams only, the club now offers junior competitions, a senior competition, and a female competition open from Under-10s upward. The club competes across multiple age divisions each season under the Rugby League Brisbane umbrella, with age groups ranging from the youngest junior teams through to senior grades. The Warriors have grown to attract over 3,800 followers on their Facebook page, reflecting the depth of community support the club has built in Capalaba since 2000.
Home Ground
The Warriors play their home games at John Fredericks Park, located on Banfield Lane in Capalaba. The facility serves multiple junior and senior teams each week and has undergone ongoing improvements in recent years. In 2025, Redland City Council funded new sports lighting at John Fredericks Park specifically to support the Capalaba Warriors Rugby League Football Club and other clubs sharing the precinct, extending the facility's capacity for training and evening competition. The club has also invested in upgrading facilities such as dugouts to improve the match-day experience for players, officials and spectators.
Community and Programs
The Capalaba Warriors run an active volunteer-driven program with Volunteer Registration open each season alongside Junior, Senior and Female registrations. The club's clubhouse at Capalaba is open Monday to Thursday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm during the season for training and club activities. Team communication is managed through dedicated parent/guardian group pages on Facebook, reflecting the club's commitment to keeping families informed and connected. The Warriors also serve as a feeder pathway for players progressing toward senior district and representative rugby league competitions.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
