About Carrum Patterson Lakes Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

Football has been played in Carrum since as early as 1902, with the formal Carrum Football Club established in 1909 following a news article in the Mornington Standard reporting the club's formation. The club first competed in organised competition in 1911, entering the Federal Football Association. Though the club disbanded briefly in 1928 and again in 1936 - merging with Seaford during a period of limited player availability - it was firmly re-established in the post-war era and went on to build one of the Southern league's proud histories. After folding in 1996, the club was revived in 2013 under the Carrum Patterson Lakes name, re-entering the Southern Football Netball League at Division 3 level.

Club History

Over more than a century of play, the Carrum Football Club accumulated 12 premierships: in 1921, 1932, 1948, 1955, 1959, 1963, 1966, 1973, 1974 (twice), 1989, and 1994. The 1921 premiership - won under the Mornington Peninsula Football Association - was the club's first flag, and the back-to-back premierships in 1973 and 1974 represent the club's most dominant period. A 50-year reunion of the 1973 and 1974 premiership teams was celebrated in 2023, highlighting the enduring bonds forged through those winning sides.

The club has produced a number of players who went on to VFL and AFL level, including Jake Buzza (Port Adelaide), Barry Colliver (Essendon), Ron Stubbs (Hawthorn, All-Australian), Eric Guy (St Kilda - player and coach), Wally Guy (North Melbourne), Wally Hillis (Richmond), Robert McKenzie (Melbourne), and Gary Guy (Melbourne). This record of alumni reflects the quality of football developed at Carrum over many decades.

Home Ground

The Lions have called Roy Dore Reserve their home since 1955. The ground was renamed Roy Dore Reserve in 1985 in honour of long-time Carrum CFA Captain and Carrum FC President, player, and coach Roy Dore. Before moving to Roy Dore Reserve, the club played at Keast Park (1922-1954) on the Nepean Highway, Carrum, where the Carrum Bowls Club car park now stands.

Between 2020 and 2023, Roy Dore Reserve underwent a $12.5 million redevelopment, transforming it into the Carrum Sports Precinct. The project - a partnership between Kingston Council, the Federal Government, the Victorian Government, Cricket Victoria, AFL Victoria, and local sporting clubs - delivered a new two-storey sports pavilion with female-friendly change facilities and disability access, along with upgraded cricket and football facilities.

Community and Programs

Today the Carrum Patterson Lakes Football Netball Club (CPLFNC) operates across football and netball, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels. The club's rebirth in 2013 after the long absence demonstrated strong community will to restore football to Carrum Patterson Lakes, and the club has built steadily since re-entering Division 3 of the SFNL. With over 2,700 followers on Facebook and a strong Instagram presence at @cplfnc, the Lions maintain an active connection with their supporter community. The club is family-friendly and community-oriented, reflecting the character of the suburb it serves.

Carrum Patterson Lakes

Carrum and Patterson Lakes are adjacent suburbs in Melbourne's south-east, situated in the City of Kingston local government area. Located approximately 37 km south-east of Melbourne's CBD, the area sits on the shores of Port Phillip Bay and is characterised by canal estates, waterways, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. The broader Carrum-Patterson Lakes area is known for its boating, fishing, and beach culture, and the Lions' football club has for well over a century been central to the community's sporting identity.

The Lions compete in the Southern Football Netball League and call Roy Dore Reserve, Carrum, home. Visit the club at cplfnc.com.au, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram at @cplfnc for news and match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
