About Christies Beach Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Christies Beach Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, was founded in 1963 and entered the Southern Football League (SFL) with junior teams in 1964. Senior teams followed in 1966, and the club achieved almost immediate success with A-Grade premierships in 1967 and 1968. The Saints are based in the outer southern suburbs of Adelaide in South Australia and have been a fixture of the SFL competition ever since. Their club song is "When the Saints Go Marching In."
Club History
Christies Beach has claimed seven A-Grade/Division 1 premierships: in 1967, 1968, 1971 (undefeated season), 1972, 1974, 1983, and 1994. The women's program also claimed a premiership in 2017, with women's teams competing in the Adelaide Footy League and South Australian Women's Football League between 2016 and 2019. The club has produced a notable list of AFL players, including Jason Horne-Francis (North Melbourne, then Port Adelaide - the No. 1 draft selection in 2021), Tony Modra (Adelaide and Fremantle), Dean Brogan (Port Adelaide and GWS Giants), Nigel Smart (Adelaide), and Chris Groom (Adelaide, Fremantle, and North Melbourne). The club plays its home games at John Bice Memorial Oval.
Home Ground
The Saints' home ground is John Bice Memorial Oval in Christies Beach. The ground is named in honour of a significant figure in South Australian football history and serves as the central facility for the club's senior and junior programs. It is located in the heart of the Christies Beach community and is well-positioned to serve the club's broad catchment across the southern Adelaide suburbs.
Community and Programs
Christies Beach FC fields senior men's, senior women's, and junior teams in the Southern Football League. The club has a long tradition of developing local talent through its junior ranks, with the quality of players produced - including multiple AFL draftees - testament to the strength of the program. The club also runs an active community engagement calendar throughout the football season.
Christies Beach
Christies Beach is a coastal suburb in the outer southern suburbs of Adelaide, located approximately 28 kilometres south of the CBD within the City of Onkaparinga. The suburb sits along the Gulf St Vincent coastline and is part of a string of beachside communities on the southern Adelaide coast. The area is known for its relaxed coastal lifestyle and is home to a large and growing residential community.

Footy Banner Information
Material: All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
