About Churchill Braves Baseball Club

Origins and Founding

The Churchill Braves Baseball Club was established in 1974, making it one of the founding pillars of baseball in the Latrobe Valley region of Gippsland, Victoria. The club competes in the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association (LVBA) and is based at Andrews Park West in Churchill. Founded as a family-friendly community club, the Braves have welcomed players of all ages and abilities for more than 50 years, fielding teams across T-Ball, junior grades, and senior competition through to A Grade. The club is one of several clubs that have sustained organised baseball in Gippsland since the LVBA's formation.

Club History

The Churchill Braves have been a cornerstone of the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association since 1974, with the LVBA providing competitive baseball for Gippsland communities for over 50 years. In 2025, long-serving members Tony and Carol Dickinson were recognised with the club's highest honours for more than 50 years of service to Churchill Baseball Club - a tribute to the generations of volunteers who have kept the club alive. The club's Presentation Night in 2025 drew nearly 150 people, reflecting the strong community support for baseball in the Churchill region. The Braves have also been part of a historic milestone with the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association launching its first-ever dedicated Women's competition, expanding opportunities for female players across the region.

Home Ground

The Churchill Braves are based at Andrews Park West in Churchill, Victoria. The ground serves as the home base for the club's extensive program of T-Ball, junior, and senior competition across the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association season. Andrews Park West is located in the centre of Churchill township and provides facilities for training and match play throughout the baseball season.

Community and Programs

The Churchill Braves run a comprehensive baseball program serving the Latrobe Valley community, from T-Ball introductions for young children through to A Grade senior competition. The club is a family-run organisation supported by dedicated volunteers and has remained accessible to players of all skill levels throughout its five-decade history. With the introduction of women's baseball to the LVBA competition, the Braves are positioned to expand participation even further in the coming years.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
