About Flinders Park Football Club
Origins and Founding
Flinders Park Football Club was formed on 15 March 1927 as the Flinders Park Methodist Church Football Club, according to Wikipedia. The new team entered the United Church Football Association's B Division and won a premiership in its very first season. After six seasons in that competition, the club applied to join the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) in 1933, though a single difficult season there saw it moved on to the Adelaide and Suburban Football League, where it remained until 1946.

Club History
The Reds returned to senior success with a premiership in the Adelaide and Suburban competition in 1946, then shifted to the West Torrens District Football Association in 1947, winning flags in both 1947 and 1948. A return to the SAAFL followed in 1949, and the 1970s brought back-to-back A-Grade premierships in 1976 and 1977. After the club moved into the newly formed South Australian Football Association (SAFA) in 1978, it added further A-Grade premierships in 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1983, before SAFA's clubs transferred back into the SAAFL when that competition folded after the 1995 season. Flinders Park has continued to add finals success in the Adelaide Footy League era, including a Division 3 premiership in 2023. Several Flinders Park juniors have gone on to AFL careers, among them Izak Rankine, taken with pick 3 in the 2018 AFL Draft and named an All-Australian in 2025, along with Jimmy Toumpas and Cam Ellis-Yolmen, according to Draftguru's player records.

The club is based at Flinders Park Oval on Hartley Road, Flinders Park, where its football, cricket and netball sections all share facilities.

Community and Programs
Junior football is offered at every level of SANFL Juniors for boys, plus girls teams at Under 12 and Under 16, and the club fields senior women's football in Division 4 of the Adelaide Footy League. Flinders Park Cricket Club competes in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association with its own junior program in the Western Suburbs Junior Cricket Association, and the club's netball section, established in 2015 with just two winter teams, had grown to seven senior teams by the 2018-19 summer.

Flinders Park
Flinders Park is a suburb in the City of Charles Sturt, 5.3 kilometres north-west of the Adelaide CBD, with a population of 5,489 at the 2021 census, according to Wikipedia. Named after explorer Matthew Flinders, the suburb sits among Adelaide's western suburbs alongside Kidman Park, Lockleys and Underdale, giving the football club a tight-knit residential base to draw its players and members from.
