From a player's first senior game to a hard-earned career milestone, FootyBanners.com makes it easy to honour every achievement at Footscray Lacrosse Club. Order a fully custom Bulldogs banner and give your player or team the recognition they deserve.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For player banners, simply provide the name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jamie Pearce, #7, 100 Games. Every banner is printed with permanent, weatherproof inks on heavy-duty paper that holds up through a blustery Melbourne afternoon at the ground, rain or shine.
Two Players, One Banner
Celebrating back-to-back milestones? Our Two Player banner lets you honour two Bulldogs at once in the same game. Provide both players names and guernsey numbers, and we will create one quality banner that captures the moment for both athletes.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Recognise 3 to 6 players in a single Team Banner - perfect for a season-end celebration or a round dedicated to the whole squad. A top-line message like Go Bulldogs - Run Through This! sets the tone, and a rousing closing tagline ties it all together for the Footscray faithful.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks designed to last. Hang them in the clubrooms, a garage, or the games room as a lasting tribute to a Bulldogs milestone worth remembering.
Grand Final Banners
Step up to a Grand Final banner at 4.5m or 5.5m wide, fully customised with your own top and bottom text for that big Footscray Lacrosse Club occasion. Contact us for personalised design advice to make your banner as impressive as the moment itself.
About Footscray Lacrosse Club
Origins and Founding
The Footscray Lacrosse Club traces its origins to 1935, when it was established as the Footscray Technical School Old Boys Lacrosse Club - abbreviated to F.T.S.O.B.L.C. The inaugural team played home games at a vacant block on the corner of Sunshine Road and Graingers Road in West Footscray, competing in 'E' Grade and 'F' Grade competitions. The club ran until 1939, when World War II and a resulting shortage of players forced it to cease operations.
The club was reformed in 1961 by former Footscray Technical School players, with the groundwork laid by Robert Southall and Russell Brown, guided by Mal Taylor. The first club meeting was held in the technical drawing room at Footscray Tech, and the reformed side entered Lacrosse Victoria competition from the 1961 season. The Footscray Women's Lacrosse Club was also formed in 1961 as a separate entity, with Mrs. Pearson as inaugural President, and went on to win the premiership in their debut season.
Club History
The women's side made an immediate impact, winning three consecutive premierships in 1961, 1962, and 1963 under the club's own historical records. In 1963 the Footscray team was split into two even sides and still claimed the title, defeating Williamstown in the grand final. The women's section remained one of Victoria's strongest through the mid-1960s, reaching eight grand finals as runners-up between 1964 and 1972.
Today the Bulldogs compete across men's and women's divisions in Lacrosse Victoria competition, fielding multiple senior and junior sides. The club has developed strong pathways for players to represent Victoria and Australia, with alumni having competed for Australia at World Championships and at international box and sixes tournaments. In 2024, four FLC players were competing at college level in the United States, at universities including Maryland, Loyola, Rutgers, and St Joseph's. Sixes Lacrosse is set to feature at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, providing a significant target for the club's most ambitious players.
Home Ground
The Footscray Lacrosse Club is based at Angliss Reserve, located at the corner of Francis Street and Roberts Street in Yarraville (VIC 3013). Angliss Reserve is one of a number of community sporting precincts in the area and serves as the hub for both senior and junior training and competition. Junior training sessions are held at the ground on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm throughout the winter season, typically running from late February to the season's end.
Community and Programs
The Bulldogs run a comprehensive junior program covering age groups from under-10 through to under-18 in both boys' and girls' competitions. The club also operates an in-house under-10 program that competes roughly once a month against clubs from surrounding areas. Footscray has long been known for welcoming international players, having hosted players from the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, and England - several of whom have gone on to stay, become citizens, and represent Australia at World Championships. The club actively promotes lacrosse through school and community engagement and encourages new participants via its regular Come and Try events.
Yarraville
Yarraville is an inner suburb of Melbourne, located 6 km west of the central business district within the City of Maribyrnong local government area. The suburb recorded a population of 15,636 at the 2021 census. Once an industrial hub shaped by its proximity to the Yarra River and the Port of Melbourne, Yarraville has undergone significant transformation since the 1990s and was named Australia's best suburb by Time Out in 2020. Today Yarraville Village is known for its distinctive village atmosphere, art deco cinema, multicultural dining, and tight-knit community feel.
The Bulldogs compete in Lacrosse Victoria competition and call Angliss Reserve, Yarraville home. Visit the club website for fixtures, membership, and news, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for match day updates and behind-the-scenes content.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
