About Gawler Central Football Club
Origins and Founding
Gawler Central Football Club was formed in 1889, just a few months after neighbouring South Gawler, and the two clubs, together with Willaston, make up what local historians call the "Big Three" of Gawler's early football landscape.

Club History
The Tigers joined the Barossa Light and Gawler Football Association in 1987, after the Gawler and Districts Football League disbanded the previous year. Gawler Central won a Barossa Light and Gawler premiership in 2014, defeating South Gawler at Tanunda Oval, and in 2019 celebrated 130 years of continuous operation by naming a team of the club's past 50 years.

Home Ground
The Tigers play home matches at Barossa Park in Gawler, currently known as Signature Orthodontics Oval under a naming rights arrangement, sharing the site with the club's netball and cricket teams.

Community and Programs
Gawler Central's footballers formed a cricket club in 1958, and a netball club followed in 1987 when the Barossa Light and Gawler Association required every member club to field one. In 2001 the three sporting arms were brought together as the Gawler Central Sporting Club, which has continued to grow participation through a strong focus on junior development.

Gawler
Gawler, established in 1839, is the oldest country town in South Australia, named after the colony's second governor, George Gawler. Located about 40 kilometres north of Adelaide at the confluence of the North and South Para rivers, and close to the Barossa Valley wine region, the town recorded a population of 28,562 at the 2021 census.
