About Goodwood Saints Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Goodwood Saints Football Club was formed in 1985 through the amalgamation of two proud Adelaide clubs - the Goodwood Football Club, itself established in 1911, and the St Raphael's Football Club. Together they brought over 70 years of combined football heritage into the merged entity. The Saints carry the history of both clubs forward, with roots in Goodwood stretching back to the early years of South Australian community football. The club is affiliated with the Adelaide Footy League, SANFL Juniors, and the SANFL Inclusive League.
Club History
Since their formation in 1985, the Goodwood Saints have competed in the Adelaide Footy League, the main community competition for amateur and semi-amateur football in metropolitan South Australia. The men's senior team competes in Division 2 of the Adelaide Footy League, while the club also fields women's and junior teams. With a history traceable to 1911 through the Goodwood Football Club, the Saints have one of the longer continuous histories of any Adelaide Footy League club. The club's affiliation with the SANFL Juniors program extends its reach to younger players throughout the Goodwood and surrounding suburbs.
Home Ground
The Goodwood Saints play their home games at Goodwood Oval on Chelmsford Avenue in the suburb of Goodwood, within the City of Unley local government area. The ground is shared with the Goodwood Cricket Club and sits at the heart of the club's community. Goodwood Oval has hosted football in the suburb for generations, and the Saints' ongoing connection to it reflects the deep local roots that stretch back to the original Goodwood Football Club of 1911.
Community and Programs
The Goodwood Saints are a not-for-profit community club offering football for players of all ages and abilities. Junior programs run under the SANFL Juniors banner, providing structured pathways for young players from Auskick through to under-18 competition. The club also participates in the SANFL Inclusive League, welcoming players with disabilities and reinforcing the Saints' commitment to being a club for everyone in the community. Women's football has also been part of the club's offering in recent years, with female participation growing as part of the broader national push to expand women's pathways.
Goodwood
Goodwood is an established inner suburb of Adelaide, located approximately four kilometres south of the Adelaide CBD within the City of Unley. Known for its federation-era homes, tree-lined streets, and proximity to both the King William Road retail strip and the popular Goodwood Road corridor, the suburb has long been home to a close-knit community. The Goodwood and Millswood train station provides easy public transport access, and the suburb's mix of families and professionals gives the Saints a broad and loyal supporter base.

Footy Banner Information
Material: All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
