Hawthorn Citizens Junior Banners - Celebrating Every Citizen's Milestone

The Hawthorn Citizens Junior Football Club is all about developing the next generation of footballers, and FootyBanners.com is here to help celebrate every step of that journey. Whether it's a first milestone or a grand final run, our custom Citizens banners make every moment count.

Simple to Order

Getting a Hawthorn Citizens banner is fast and straightforward. Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For player banners, just provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Connor Ellis, #17, 50 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to handle the chill of a Melbourne winter morning at Victoria Road Reserve.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Citizens players celebrating the same milestone at the same time? Our Two Player Banner is the ideal way to mark the occasion together. Provide both players' names and guernsey numbers - the milestone game must match for both - and we'll create a quality banner worthy of the moment.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Our Team Banner covers 3 to 6 players and is ideal for end-of-season presentations and milestone rounds. A top-line message such as "Hawthorn Citizens Juniors - Season Champions" brings the whole celebration together and gives every player on the banner a lasting keepsake.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Whether they hang in the Citizens clubrooms or go home with a proud junior player, these banners are built to last well beyond the final siren.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final Banners can be fully customised with the Hawthorn Citizens Junior Football Club's own top and bottom text. Contact us for design advice and we'll help make sure the banner is perfect for the big day.

About Hawthorn Citizens Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Hawthorn Citizens Junior Football Club - known affectionately as "Hawthorn Citz" - traces its origins to 1944, when the Hawthorn Citizens Youth Club was established in the inner-east Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn. The club began competing in organised junior football in 1992, affiliated with the Hawthorn District Junior Football League from 1992 to 1996. When the Yarra Junior Football League was formed in 1996, HCJFC made the move to that competition and has competed in the YJFL since 1997.

Club History

The Citizens are a prominent club within the Yarra Junior Football League, one of Victoria's most competitive metropolitan junior competitions. The club has produced elite-level talent, most notably Noah Anderson, who played his junior football at Hawthorn Citz before being selected with pick 2 in the 2019 AFL National Draft by the Gold Coast Suns. Anderson has since become one of the AFL's premier midfielders. The club also runs the Citz Umpire Academy, a dedicated program to develop junior umpires alongside the playing program - a commitment to the full ecosystem of Australian rules football that few junior clubs match.

Home Ground

The Citizens' club rooms and primary ground for under-10s to under-14s teams is Victoria Road Reserve on Victoria Road, Hawthorn East (VIC 3123) - a well-established suburban oval in the City of Boroondara. The youngest age groups (under-8s and under-9s) train and play at the historic Glenferrie Oval on Linda Crescent, Hawthorn, one of Melbourne's famous suburban football grounds. Youth and secondary fixtures for under-13s to under-16s are also played at Rathmines Road Reserve in Hawthorn East.

Community and Programs

HCJFC fields teams across all junior age groups from Auskick and under-8s through to under-16s, catering to boys and girls from the Hawthorn and broader Boroondara community. The club operates its Citz Umpire Academy to identify and develop young umpiring talent, providing a structured pathway for young people who want to be involved in the game beyond playing. The club encourages broad participation and is affiliated with the YJFL, one of the AFL Victoria metro competitions.

Hawthorn East

Hawthorn East is an inner-eastern suburb of Melbourne, located approximately 5 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD and forming part of the City of Boroondara local government area. The broader Hawthorn area is well known as the home of the Hawthorn Football Club and is characterised by heritage-listed streetscapes, Glenferrie Road's café strip, and proximity to the Yarra River and Freemasons Hospital. The area has a mix of established families, young professionals and students from nearby Swinburne University, making it one of Melbourne's most desirable inner-east precincts.

The Citizens compete in the Yarra Junior Football League and call Victoria Road Reserve, Hawthorn East home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
