From 50-game milestones to grand final run-throughs, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that do justice to every proud Hay Magpies moment. Give your player the recognition they deserve with a banner built for the occasion.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner formats. To personalise your banner, supply the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Coby Walsh, #6, 100 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner will stand up through any dry and dusty NSW Riverina day out at Hay Park.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Magpies celebrating together? Our Two Player banner puts both players front and centre on one banner. Simply supply each player's name, guernsey number, and the milestone they're sharing for a one-of-a-kind tribute.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honour 3 to 6 players at once with our Team Banner option. Imagine the Magpies bursting through a banner reading "Hay Magpies - Our Champions" at your next grand final or end-of-season celebration. A brilliant way to bring the whole club together.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, our Wall Keepsake Banners are made from thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to last. Hang them in the Magpies clubrooms, the garage, or the lounge room as a proud display of a player's career milestones.

About Hay Magpies Rugby League Football Club

Origins and Founding

Rugby league was first played in Hay in 1931 in a town where Australian Rules football had historically been the dominant code. The Hay Rugby League Club was officially formed in 1936, established by a group of local advocates including school teacher Sam Willis, three local publicans, and a road contractor. The club took on the black and white colours and Magpies name, playing their home games at Hay Park on Morgan Street. From 1936 the club competed in Group 17 Rugby League before moving to Group 20 in 2007 when regional competition structures changed.

Club History

The Hay Magpies are the most successful club in the history of Group 17 Rugby League, having won 12 first-grade premierships. Their standout era included a three-peat from 1959 to 1961, a 1972 premiership coached by Billy Curtis, and further titles in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, and 1995. The club has produced several players who went on to first-grade NSWRL/ARL careers, including Bob Lee (Parramatta, 1964), Brett Goldspink (Illawarra, South Sydney, and English Super League clubs), and Nicholas Edwards (Western Suburbs, 1998). Former Melbourne Storm premiership player Ben Roarty also played a season with the Magpies in 2009, the year they won their first Group 20 reserves premiership.

Home Ground

The Magpies play their home games at Hay Park Oval No.1 on Morgan Street in Hay. The ground is the central hub for rugby league in the Hay district and hosts regular Group 20 fixtures throughout the season. The club has run annual community events including the "Pie in the Sky" match, which has featured former NRL players returning to play in Hay.

Community and Programs

The Hay Magpies field teams in First Grade, Reserve Grade, Under 18s, League Tag, and Women's Tackle each season under the Group 20 Rugby League competition. The club is a key institution in a remote rural town and plays a central role in keeping organised sport alive in one of New South Wales' most isolated communities. The Magpies' history stretching back to 1936 reflects a deep commitment to rugby league and community life in the western Riverina.

Hay

Hay is a rural town on the Murrumbidgee River in the western Riverina region of New South Wales, located approximately 728 kilometres west of Sydney. The town recorded a population of approximately 2,300 at the 2021 census and is known for its flat plains, pastoral heritage, and position at the junction of major highway routes. Hay serves as a service hub for the surrounding sheep and cattle stations of the Hay Plains.

The Magpies compete in Group 20 Rugby League and call Hay Park home.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
