Hillside Sharks Banners - Celebrating the Sharks of Melbourne's North

Show your pride in your Hillside Sharks player with a fully customised banner from FootyBanners.com. From milestone games to grand final runs, a personalised Sharks banner is the ultimate way to honour your club's finest moments.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. For player milestones, provide the name, guernsey number, and achievement - for example, Tyler Nguyen, #22, 100 Games. Banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, built to handle a Melbourne winter match day with the Sharks.

Two Players, One Banner

If two Hillside Sharks are reaching the same milestone, a Two Player banner lets you honour them both in a single run-through. Provide both names and guernsey numbers - both must be at the same milestone. A quality banner worth running through proudly.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Celebrate 3-6 players at once with a Team Banner tailored to the Sharks. Customise the top message - something like "Hillside Sharks - Making Waves!" - and rally the club around a banner that captures the season's spirit. Go the Sharks!

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang your Hillside Sharks banner in the clubrooms, a games room, or a garage as a lasting symbol of Sharks pride.

Grand Final Banners

Make the biggest game of the year even more special with a Grand Final banner in 4.5m or 5.5m. Fully customised top and bottom text brings the Hillside Sharks Grand Final banner to life. Reach out for personalised design assistance before the big day.

About Hillside Sharks Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Hillside Football Club, nicknamed the Sharks, was established in 1999 in Hillside, a suburb in Melbourne's north-western growth corridor. The club was founded by Michael Johnstone, who launched the initiative from his garage with the goal of providing junior football opportunities for children in the rapidly developing Hillside and Sydenham area. The club was initially known as the Sydenham-Hillside Football Club, reflecting its broader catchment across adjacent suburbs, before transitioning to the Hillside Football Club name as the local community grew. The founding vision of grassroots, community-focused junior football has remained at the heart of the club's identity throughout its history.

Club History

After operating primarily as a junior club throughout its early years, Hillside established a senior side in 2005, entering the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) Division 2. The Sharks spent eight seasons in Division 2 before breaking through with back-to-back reserves premierships in 2012 and 2013, and then winning the Division 2 senior flag in 2013, defeating Moonee Valley 22.13 (145) to 13.4 (82) in the grand final. This 2013 premiership secured promotion to Division 1, where Hillside has competed since. In 2019 the club won the Division 1 Reserves flag, and in 2023 claimed a second Division 1 Reserves premiership, affirming the club's position as one of the EDFL's established Division 1 contenders. The women's team has also become a strong presence in the EDFL Women's Premier Division.

Home Ground

The Hillside Sharks play their home matches at Hillside Reserve in Hillside, Victoria, with Boronia Reserve serving as a secondary venue. Hillside Reserve is a community sporting ground that has grown alongside the suburb itself, which was developed largely in the 1990s and 2000s as part of the broader expansion of Melbourne's north-western suburbs. The ground provides the club with a home base that reflects the modern residential character of the Hillside area and serves as a focal point for community sporting activity throughout the winter season.

Community and Programs

The Hillside Football Club fields senior men's and women's teams in the EDFL, as well as a comprehensive junior program covering age groups from Auskick through to the Under 18 level. The club's women's team competes in the EDFL Women's Premier Division, one of Melbourne's highest-level suburban women's competitions. With more than 26 years of junior football history behind it, Hillside is now a well-established multi-generational club where parents who played as juniors in the club's early years have now seen their own children come through the ranks. The club's family-friendly ethos and community-first approach remain central to everything the Sharks do.

Hillside

Hillside is a residential suburb located in the City of Melton in Melbourne's north-western outer suburbs, approximately 27 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. The suburb was developed predominantly in the 1990s as part of the broader growth of the Melton region, which has become one of Victoria's fastest-growing local government areas. Hillside is bordered by Sydenham, Taylors Hill, and Calder Park, and sits adjacent to the Calder Freeway corridor that connects Melbourne's western suburbs to regional Victoria. The City of Melton's population has grown dramatically in recent decades, providing the Hillside Sharks with an expanding community base from which to draw players and supporters.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
