About Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Jandakot Junior Football Club was founded in 1997, originally playing out of Anning Park in Jandakot, according to the club's own Our Club page. At the request of the City of Cockburn, the club relocated to its current home at Atwell Oval in 2000. From modest beginnings, the Jets have grown into one of the largest junior football clubs in the South Fremantle Football Club District.

Club History
Two Jandakot Jets juniors have gone on to senior AFL careers. Ruckman-forward Shannon Neale played his juniors at the Jets before being drafted by Geelong with pick 33 in the 2020 AFL draft, making his debut in round 11 of the 2022 season against Adelaide. More recently, defender-wingman Jaxon Artemis, who came through the Jets and South Fremantle before also representing Tasmania, was selected by Essendon with pick 1 in the AFL's 2026 mid-season rookie draft, having previously been nominated in both the 2024 and 2025 national drafts. Today the club fields programs for boys and girls from Pre-Primary through to Year 12, with more than 500 registered members and six female teams competing in the 2025 season alone.

Home Ground
The Jets have played home matches at Atwell Oval since 2000, having moved there from their original ground at Anning Park in Jandakot at the City of Cockburn's request.

Community and Programs
The club runs a dedicated Values in Action program recognising players who exemplify the club's values of respect, inclusivity and spirit, alongside its junior and youth competitions spanning Pre-Primary to Year 12. With six female teams registered for the 2025 season and a membership base of more than 500, the Jets describe themselves as a welcoming community built by volunteers over more than 25 years.

Atwell
Atwell is a suburb of Perth in the City of Cockburn, located 21 kilometres south of the Perth CBD, with a population of 9,287 at the 2021 census, according to Wikipedia. Sitting on the Swan Coastal Plain within the federal division of Fremantle, Atwell borders the suburb of Jandakot itself, giving the Jets a natural home among the families of Perth's southern corridor.
