About Kilmore Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Kilmore Football Netball Club, known as the Two Blues, has one of the longest documented histories in Victorian country football. Football coverage in Kilmore appeared in The Leader newspaper as early as 1873, with the town fielding three separate teams: North Kilmore FC, South Kilmore FC, and Heath's Club. By July 1874 the town hosted the Hawthorn Football Club, and Kilmore recorded a victory over Hawthorn in May 1875. After competing in a succession of local associations from the 1890s onward, the club settled in the Riddell District Football League for the bulk of the twentieth century, then made a landmark move to the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL) in 2016.

Club History

The Two Blues have accumulated ten senior premierships across multiple competitions. The earliest came in the Central Mernda District Football Association in 1910, followed by the Midlands Football Association flag in 1920 and three consecutive Hume Highway Football League premierships in 1938, 1939, and 1940. The Riddell District Football League Division One title was captured in 1971, with further flags at Division One and Two level. In 2001 the club secured another senior flag in the RDFL. The club's transition to the NFNL in 2016 saw it enter Division 3 of one of Melbourne's strongest regional competitions, where it has continued to develop players through a combined football and netball program. The best and fairest award, the Ferris Medal, is named in honour of Nick Ferris, a celebrated contributor to Kilmore football.

Home Ground

Kilmore FNC plays at JJ Clancy Reserve in Kilmore, a facility with a capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators. The ground has a long association with football in the town and serves as the base for both the football and netball programs. The reserve is named in honour of the Clancy family, whose connection to Kilmore football includes Kevin Clancy, who won the club's best and fairest award in 1940, 1946, and 1947.

Community and Programs

The club operates as a combined football and netball club, with the netball program forming an integral part of Kilmore FNC's community identity. Junior football pathways feed into the senior program, and the club is a significant community anchor in the Mitchell Shire area. The club has maintained strong ties with the broader Kilmore community through family-based football traditions spanning multiple generations, and it actively recruits players from the growing Mitchell Shire catchment area.

Kilmore

Kilmore is a town in the Mitchell Shire of central Victoria, situated approximately 60 kilometres north of Melbourne on the Hume Freeway corridor. At the 2021 Census, Kilmore recorded a population of 9,207 residents, making it one of the larger towns in the Mitchell Shire. The town is historically significant as the first inland town established in the Port Phillip District in 1841, and it serves as a regional service centre for surrounding agricultural communities in the Hume region.

The Two Blues compete in the NFNL and call JJ Clancy Reserve, Kilmore, home. Find out more at kilmorefnc.com.au, follow the club on Facebook, or connect on Instagram at @kilmorefnc.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Milestone Banners made by Footybanners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
