About Kununurra Demons Football Club

Origins and Founding

Kununurra Demons Football Club is one of the senior clubs in the Northern Division of the East Kimberley Football League (EKFL), based in Kununurra in Western Australia's remote East Kimberley region. The EKFL was established in 1970 and is one of Australia's most geographically isolated Australian rules football competitions, with some clubs located across the border in the Northern Territory. The Demons draw from Kununurra's diverse local population - the town is the largest in the East Kimberley - and represent a broad cross-section of the community, including both Indigenous and non-Indigenous players.

Club History

The Kununurra Demons are one of the foundation clubs of the EKFL and have been a consistent presence in the Northern Division for decades. In 2023, the EKFL underwent a significant restructure, splitting into a Northern Division centred on Kununurra and a Southern Division centred on Halls Creek, reducing travel distances and improving player safety. The Demons competed strongly in the 2025 EKFL Northern Division season, finishing third on the ladder. The club also fields a women's side in the EKFL Senior Women North competition, contributing to growing female participation in football across the East Kimberley. Youth development is a stated priority for the club, with the Demons actively supporting the next generation of local talent - players such as Damo and D'Andre Cox have progressed from the Demons' youth programs to state-level representative football.

Home Ground

The Kununurra Demons play their home games at Kununurra Oval, the principal football venue in Kununurra. Kununurra Oval also serves as the grand final venue for EKFL Northern Division matches, including the 2025 grand final between the Waringarri Crows and the Ord River Magpies. The ground is shared with other EKFL clubs including the Waringarri Crows, the Ord River Magpies, and the Bow River Blues.

Community and Programs

The Kununurra Demons place strong emphasis on youth development and community connection. The club has celebrated young players progressing to state representative level, including appearances in the WA 16s and 18s state squads. The club's junior pathway feeds into the senior program and supports broader efforts to retain young talent in the East Kimberley rather than having them relocate to Perth for football opportunities. The Demons' women's team provides a further avenue for community participation, reflecting the EKFL's investment in growing women's football across the region.

Kununurra

Kununurra is a town in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, approximately 830 kilometres east of Broome and 3,100 kilometres north of Perth. It serves as the commercial and administrative hub of the East Kimberley, with a population of around 6,000 people. The town is situated near the Ord River irrigation scheme, one of Australia's largest irrigation areas, and is known for its dramatic red rock landscape, the Mirima National Park, and Lake Kununurra. The area experiences a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, and footy is a central part of community life through the dry season months.

The Demons compete in the East Kimberley Football League Northern Division and call Kununurra Oval home. Follow the Kununurra Demons on Facebook for news, fixtures, and updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
