Sale Magpies Banners - Celebrating Milestones at Sale Oval
From debut games to career milestones, FootyBanners.com helps the Sale community celebrate its Magpies in style. Every banner is custom made to mark a player's achievement with real pride.
Simple to Order
Choose from a Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner. Just send us the player's name, surname, guernsey number and milestone - for example, Matt Smith, #43, 150 Games - and we will take care of the rest. Every banner is printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper, built to handle a cool Gippsland winter morning at Sale Oval.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Magpies reach the same milestone on the same day, a Two Player Banner lets you celebrate them together. Simply provide both names and guernsey numbers for a quality banner worthy of the occasion.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Our Team Banner option fits 3 to 6 players, perfect for celebrating a group milestone as one. A top-line message like "Go Magpies!" gets the whole club fired up for the contest.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to last. A great way to show Magpies pride in the clubrooms, garage, or games room.
Grand Final Banners
Make grand final day unforgettable with a 4.5m or 5.5m banner featuring fully customised top and bottom text. Get in touch and we will help you design something the Sale Football Netball Club can be proud of.
About Sale Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
Sale Football Netball Club was founded in 1877, with the club playing its first official competitive football in 1889 after joining the Gippsland Football Association, initially as a junior side, according to the club's recorded history. The club moved into senior competition in 1900 and claimed its first premiership the following year in 1901.
Club History
The Magpies have won ten senior premierships, including four Gippsland Football Association flags in the 1920s and 1930s, back-to-back Latrobe Valley Football League premierships in 1954 and 1955, and a more recent Gippsland Football League premiership in 2012 after defeating Maffra in the grand final. The club has produced a long line of VFL/AFL talent, from 1930s Brownlow Medal winner Norman Ware, who went on to Footscray, through to current Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury, who debuted in 2006, and Western Bulldogs premiership player Josh Dunkley, who debuted in 2016.
Home Ground
Sale plays its home matches at Sale Oval, on the corner of Palmerston and McArthur Streets in Sale, a ground the club has called home for well over a century.
Community and Programs
Alongside senior football, the Magpies field a netball program that has produced players who went on to national league netball, including Lara Dunkley and Kate Eddy, both of whom represented the Melbourne Vixens. The club also runs community initiatives such as its Club 77 Members Draw and works to keep players, families and volunteers connected across the Wellington Shire.
Sale
Sale is a regional city within the Shire of Wellington in Victoria's Gippsland region, located about 212 kilometres east of Melbourne. It recorded a population of 14,296 at the 2021 census and serves as a major service centre for the surrounding Gippsland farming and gas industry areas.
The Magpies compete in the Gippsland Football Netball League and call Sale Oval home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

Rigging Your Banner
-

-
This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.
-
-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
