About Balnarring Thunder Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Balnarring Football Club, known as the Thunder, was founded in 1890 on the Mornington Peninsula. The club's junior arm, Balnarring Junior Football Club, was established in 2006 and has grown into a significant pathway for young players in the district.
Club History
Balnarring competes in the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League and fields senior men's and women's teams. In 2025 the club's senior women's team was crowned MPFNL premiers, one of the standout results in the Thunder's recent history.
Home Ground
Balnarring Thunder plays home games at Balnarring Reserve on Balnarring Road, in the heart of the township.
Community and Programs
Alongside its senior football program, Balnarring runs a well established junior club fielding teams across multiple age groups, giving young players on the Mornington Peninsula a pathway from junior level through to senior football.
Balnarring
Balnarring is a town on the Mornington Peninsula, about 63 kilometres south east of Melbourne and roughly halfway between Hastings and Flinders. First surveyed in the 1860s, the town recorded a population of 2,371 at the 2021 census.
Balnarring Thunder compete in the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League and call Balnarring Reserve home. Follow the club on Facebook and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.
