Leopold Lions Banners - Celebrate Every Lions Milestone

Whether it's a player's big game achievement or a team to celebrate, FootyBanners.com crafts premium custom banners for every proud Lions moment. From junior milestones to senior premiership runs, a custom Lions banner from FootyBanners.com is the ideal way to honour the occasion.

Simple to Order

Choose from our Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. For player banners, provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Liam Carey, #22, 50 Games. All banners use permanent weatherproof inks on heavy-duty paper, tough enough to stand up to the crispest bitter Melbourne winter morning on the outer boundary.

Two Players, One Banner

Got two Lions reaching the same milestone together? Our Two Player banner is purpose-built for shared celebrations - both players must be marking the same game milestone. Supply both names and guernsey numbers and we'll create a quality banner to match the moment.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Recognise a group of 3 to 6 players with our Team Banner option. A top-line message like "Roar Lions Roar!" brings the banner to life and makes it a keepsake the whole group will treasure. Order yours at FootyBanners.com today.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks designed to last. Hang your Lions banner in the clubrooms, garage, or games room and keep those great footy memories alive.

Run through a 4.5m or 5.5m Grand Final banner at your next big match. Fully customised with your top and bottom text, the Leopold Lions Football Club Grand Final banner sets the tone from the moment the team bursts through. Contact us for design advice.

About Leopold Lions Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Leopold Football Netball Club has one of the longest histories on the Bellarine Peninsula, with football first played in Leopold as far back as 1897. That early iteration of the club competed in local competitions until it was disbanded in 1923. The modern club was reformed in 1955 when it entered the Geelong and District Football League in the Jarman Cup division. After progressing through divisions and competing in the Polwarth Football League from 1965, the club became a founding member of the Bellarine Football League (BFL) when that competition launched in 1971. The Lions were admitted into the Geelong Football League - now operating as part of AFL Barwon's Geelong Football Netball League (GFNL) - in 1992, where they have remained ever since. More detail on the club's history is recorded in the book Cat Country - History of Football in the Geelong Region by John Stoward.

Club History

The Lions have accumulated five senior football premierships across their history. They won BFL flags in 1979 and 1990 before joining the GFL, then added three GFNL premierships in 2016, 2023, and 2024 - making them one of the competition's dominant clubs in the modern era. The 2023 and 2024 back-to-back premierships cemented the Lions' status as a powerhouse in regional Victorian football. The club has also produced a remarkable number of VFL and AFL-listed players over the decades, including David Loats (Hawthorn), Ben Graham (Geelong), Tony Brown (St Kilda), Tim Boyle (Hawthorn), Clint Bartram (Melbourne), Mario Bortolotto (Geelong and Carlton), Luke Dahlhaus (Western Bulldogs), Tom Ruggles (Geelong), and Jed Bews (Geelong). This record of AFL talent development is exceptional for a community club of Leopold's size.

Home Ground

The Lions play their home matches at Leopold Memorial Park, located in central Leopold. The ground serves as the hub of the football and netball club's activities, hosting senior, reserves, and junior competitions throughout the season. Leopold Memorial Park is a well-regarded community sporting venue on the Bellarine Peninsula and has been the club's home for decades.

Community and Programs

The Leopold Football Netball Club is a combined club offering both Australian rules football and netball programs, making it a cornerstone of sporting life in the Leopold community. The club fields senior, reserves, and junior football teams, as well as netball sides across multiple grades. The combined club model ensures that families across Leopold and the surrounding Bellarine Peninsula area have access to a broad range of competitive sport within their community. The club's junior program plays a vital role in feeding talent into the senior ranks, as evidenced by the significant number of Leopold players who have gone on to VFL and AFL careers.

Leopold

Leopold is a residential suburb on the eastern fringe of Geelong, located in City of Greater Geelong local government area in Victoria. Known as the "Gateway to the Bellarine Peninsula", the suburb sits along the Bellarine Highway and serves as the main access point to Queenscliff, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, and other popular Bellarine destinations. Originally named Kensington, the suburb was renamed Leopold in 1892 to avoid confusion with the Melbourne suburb of the same name. The population was 13,272 at the 2021 Census and was estimated at 13,869 in 2025 - a community that has grown substantially since the 1960s driven by residential development and its appeal to young families seeking proximity to Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.

The Lions compete in the Geelong Football Netball League (AFL Barwon) and call Leopold Memorial Park home. Visit the club website for news, fixtures, and membership information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy
