Macedon Cats Banners - Proud Cats of the Macedon Ranges

Celebrate your Macedon Cats player's milestone with a custom banner from FootyBanners.com. Whether it's a 50-game, a century, or a grand final run in the Ranges, a personalised Cats banner is a brilliant way to mark the occasion.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banners. For player milestones, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Ben Fraser, #3, 100 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to handle the crisp air of a Melbourne winter match in the Macedon Ranges.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Macedon Cats are sharing the same milestone, celebrate them both on a single run-through banner. Provide both names and guernsey numbers - both players must be reaching the same milestone. A meaningful keepsake for two proud Cats.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honour 3-6 players at once with a Team Banner tailored for the Cats. Customise the top message - try "Macedon Cats - Rolling Through the Ranges!" - and rally the whole club behind one unforgettable banner. Go Cats!

About Macedon Cats Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Macedon Football and Netball Club, widely known as the Cats, is one of the oldest football clubs in regional Victoria, with its origins dating to 1887. Historical records show the club competing against Gisborne as early as 1892, confirming its place as a founding institution of football in the Macedon Ranges region. The club is based in the township of Macedon, situated 61 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, and has been a central pillar of the local community for well over a century. The Cats compete as a dual-code club covering both Australian rules football and netball, reflecting the combined sporting tradition that has characterised country Victorian clubs throughout the state's history.

Club History

Macedon's football history spans multiple eras and competitions across the Macedon Ranges and broader central Victorian region. The club's earliest recorded premiership came in the Gisborne District Football League in 1907, followed by a Woodend District Football League flag in 1919. The modern era of competition has been contested through the Riddell District Football Netball League, where the Cats won premierships in 1975 and 2017. The 2017 flag was a particularly celebrated achievement, ending a four-decade gap in the club's football premiership record. Macedon has also produced a number of AFL-listed players, including Daniel Markworth, who played for St Kilda, as well as Lachie Plowman and Matthew Dick.

Home Ground

The Macedon Football and Netball Club plays its home matches at Tony Clarke Reserve in Macedon, Victoria. The ground has long served as the community's primary sporting venue and is central to the club's activities throughout the football and netball seasons. Tony Clarke Reserve sits within the Macedon township, which is closely associated with the Macedon Regional Park, a protected natural area that draws visitors from across the state for bushwalking and nature tourism. The reserve is a well-maintained community facility that reflects the pride the Macedon community takes in its sporting heritage.

Community and Programs

The Macedon Football and Netball Club operates senior men's and women's football teams as well as netball teams across multiple grades, serving the broader Macedon community. Junior football programs provide a development pathway for young players in the Macedon Ranges area, connecting the next generation to more than 135 years of football tradition at the club. The Cats also maintain strong ties to Macedon Primary School and the broader township, with many families involved across both the football and netball programs. The combined football and netball club model is typical of country Victoria and ensures a broad, family-inclusive membership throughout the season.

Macedon

Macedon is a small township in the Shire of Macedon Ranges, located on the lower slopes of Mount Macedon approximately 61 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. The town is known for its proximity to the Macedon Regional Park and the summit of Mount Macedon, which rises to 1,013 metres and affords panoramic views across the Melbourne basin. The area was significantly affected by the Ash Wednesday bushfires of 1983, an event that devastated communities across the Macedon Ranges and left a lasting mark on the region's history. Today the Macedon area is a popular destination for weekenders from Melbourne and is home to a close-knit community with a deep appreciation for its natural environment and sporting traditions.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
