About Manor Lakes Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
The Manor Lakes Football Netball Club was founded in 2012 and incorporated on 14 August 2012, emerging from the rapidly growing outer Melbourne suburb of Wyndham Vale. The founding committee initially set out to establish a junior football program for the 2013 season, but an overwhelming response through social media and local outreach made clear that demand for senior football was just as strong. The club developed its own kit and recruited Heath Hunter as its inaugural senior coach, with 14 players transferring from Trentham Football Club in the Macedon Country District Football League to form the core of the new squad. The club was admitted to the Western Region Football League (WRFL) 2nd Division for its first competitive season in 2013.
Club History
Known as the Storm, Manor Lakes competed in the WRFL 2nd Division from 2013 and quickly built a loyal supporter base in one of Melbourne's fastest-growing corridors. By 2020 the senior side had moved into recess, with the club shifting its focus to junior development. The junior program has grown substantially, with the Under-16s reaching the WRFL Grand Final in 2024. Club captain Nathan Montague became the first player in the club's history to reach the 100-game milestone, earning multiple selections in the WRFL Team of the Year and serving as captain for at least four seasons. The club operates with a strong multicultural identity, with club president Shane White leading efforts to connect the club to Manor Lakes' diverse and growing population.
Home Ground
The Storm play at Howqua Way Reserve, located on Howqua Way in Wyndham Vale. The ground serves as the club's base for both football and netball training and competition, and is situated within the growing residential precinct of Manor Lakes. The club rooms are attached to the oval, giving the club a central community hub for members and supporters in the area.
Community and Programs
The Manor Lakes Football Netball Club runs junior football teams competing in Western Region Football League age-group competitions, as well as a netball program through the same affiliated club. The club emphasises sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle, and describes itself as committed to creating a multicultural environment where all members of the community are welcome. Regular events, general meetings, and community engagement activities are run throughout the season. The club also acknowledges the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which it operates.
Manor Lakes
Manor Lakes is a suburb in the City of Wyndham, approximately 33 kilometres southwest of Melbourne's CBD. With a population of 12,675 at the 2021 census, it is one of the fastest-growing communities in Victoria, situated within the Wyndhamvale growth corridor. The area is characterised by its multicultural population and rapid residential development, with new schools, parks, and community facilities continuing to be established alongside established sporting clubs like the Storm.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
