Mitcham Hawks Football Banners - Celebrating the Pride of Mitcham
From a player's milestone game to a hard-fought grand final, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners for the Mitcham Hawks that do justice to one of Adelaide's most durable and historic football clubs. Whatever the occasion, let's help you mark it with something worthy of the Hawks.
Simple to Order
Order a Single Player Banner by providing the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Tim Fraser, #17, 200 Games. Our banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper built to handle a blazing SA afternoon out at the oval. Tough enough to match the Hawks themselves.
Two Players, One Banner
Celebrating two Hawks legends at once? Our Two Player Banner combines both milestones on a single premium banner - just provide both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone they're reaching together. Double the occasion, one outstanding banner.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Rally the whole squad with a Team Banner featuring 3 to 6 players. Set a top-line message like "Mitcham Hawks - A Century of Community" and give your team something memorable to run through. Perfect for finals campaigns and season-defining milestones.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks - ideal for the clubrooms, the garage, or the games room. A lasting tribute to the Mitcham Hawks and the proud history they carry.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text. Contact us early for personalised design advice when the Mitcham Hawks are heading into finals.
About Mitcham Hawks Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Mitcham Hawks Football Club is one of Adelaide's most enduring community football clubs, with records placing its first known game on 12 July 1907 against Unley Gents at Unley Oval. A senior club structure was established as early as 1888. The club's earliest home was at The Long Paddocks in Mitcham, and it was a member of the Royal Association, wearing double blue colours. In 1910 Mitcham joined the Metropolitan Association, and in 1912 moved to Hawthorn Oval and joined the newly formed Sturt District Football Association - winning the premiership in their very first season and following up with another flag in 1914.
Club History
Mitcham's long history has seen the club compete across multiple South Australian football associations, remaining independent throughout. After competing in the Sturt Football Association until 1962 - claiming premierships in 1954, 1956, 1959 and 1960 - the club moved to the Adelaide Metropolitan League in 1963 before joining the SA Amateur Football League (SAAFL) in 1968. The club was undefeated in A4 Grade in 1968, progressing through A3 in 1969 and A2 in 1970. Following a dispute, the club spent nine years in the Glenelg South Adelaide Football Association from 1976, winning two premierships, before rejoining the Amateur League in 1985. The Hawks claimed SAAFL premierships in 1987 and 1996 and have continued building their program. The senior side has won 12 premierships in total across more than a century of competition, and the club has maintained continuous football on Hawthorn Oval since 1912 - more than 110 years - without a merger or amalgamation.
Home Ground
The Mitcham Hawks play their home games at Price Memorial Oval, located at the corner of Angas Road and Hawthorn Crescent in Hawthorn, South Australia. Hawthorn Oval has been the club's home since 1912, making it one of the longest-standing home ground relationships in Adelaide metropolitan football. The oval serves as the hub for the club's senior men's and junior football programs throughout the season.
Community and Programs
Over the past decade the Mitcham Hawks have built a strong junior presence with multiple under-age teams, as well as running senior football for adults. The club operates within the Adelaide Footy League (the successor to the SAAFL) and is committed to providing football in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The club also maintains active community engagement and partnerships with local businesses, reflected in its growing social media following of over 2,400 Facebook followers.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
