Modbury Football Banners - Recognising the Hawks' Greatest Achievers
The Modbury Hawks are one of South Australia's largest and most active football communities. FootyBanners.com is proud to help the club celebrate its players with custom banners that reflect the enormous heart and history behind the Hawks.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banners. Provide the player's name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Darren Walsh, #15, 150 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner holds up through every warm South Australian match day without a problem.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Hawks hit the same milestone in the same game, our Two Player banner is the perfect way to honour them both. Simply supply both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll create a quality keepsake that the whole club can enjoy.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
With more than 30 teams fielded across the club's programs, the Modbury Hawks always have something worth celebrating. Our Team Banner option lets you recognise three to six players at once - add a top-line message like "Modbury Hawks - A Club Like No Other" and close with a tagline that rallies the squad.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks, our Wall Keepsake Banners are made to last. Display them proudly in the Modbury Hawks' clubrooms, a player's garage, or any dedicated Hawks fan's games room.
Grand Final Banners
For the Modbury Football Club's biggest game of the season, our 4.5m and 5.5m Grand Final banners are fully customisable with your choice of top and bottom text. Contact us for design advice and let's build a run-through banner worthy of the occasion.
About Modbury Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Modbury Football Club was formed in 1862, making it the oldest extant football club in South Australia and the sixth oldest football club of any code in Australia. The first recorded match was played between Modbury and the Adelaide Football Club in 1862, with each side fielding 20 players and no umpires. The game ended when Adelaide kicked its second goal and was declared the winner. The two clubs met again in 1863 near the Modbury Hotel at Civic Park in an evenly contested game where neither side scored a goal - a remarkable piece of Australian football history. Over 160 years, the Modbury Football Club has become one of the most storied community clubs in South Australia.
Club History
The Modbury Hawks have accumulated 37 senior premierships and 45 junior flags. Senior A Grade premierships include wins in 1934, 1935, 1963, 1967, 1968, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1985, 1989, 1992, 1994, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2014, and 2016. The club was affiliated with the North Adelaide District Football Association from 1947-1950 and 1954-1958. After reforming in 1963, it won the A2 Grade premiership that year, then back-to-back A1 flags in 1967 and 1968. To mark the club's 100th anniversary in 1962, and again during South Australia's 150th-year celebrations in 1986, special commemorative games were played against South Adelaide Football Club. The club celebrated its own 150th year in 2012. Today the Hawks field over 30 teams and more than 550 registered players.
Home Ground
Modbury plays home games at Modbury Oval, a 2,000-capacity ground in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide. The club has moved grounds several times over its long history - originally at Old Modbury Oval (Civic Park) until 1963, then briefly at Memorial Oval in Tea Tree Gully in 1964, before settling at its current home. The club's facilities also host the Modbury Sports and Community Club, making it a social hub for the broader Ridgehaven community.
Community and Programs
The Modbury Football Club fields senior teams in the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) and junior teams in the North Eastern Metropolitan Junior Football League. A women's team and an under-18 girls' team both compete in the SAWFL, reflecting the club's growth in women's football. With over 550 registered players across 30-plus teams, Modbury is one of the largest community football clubs in Adelaide's north-east. The club's combination of deep historical roots and modern community programs makes it one of South Australia's most respected sporting institutions.
Modbury and Ridgehaven
Modbury is a suburb in the City of Tea Tree Gully, located approximately 18 kilometres north-east of the Adelaide CBD. It is one of the main commercial and service centres for Adelaide's north-eastern corridor, home to the Tea Tree Plaza shopping centre and several major health and education facilities. Ridgehaven, where the club's oval is located, adjoins Modbury to the east and is a quiet residential suburb nestled at the foot of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The broader Tea Tree Gully region has grown significantly since the 1960s and remains one of Adelaide's most active communities for grassroots sport.
The Hawks compete in the SAAFL and call Modbury Oval home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.
Footy Banner Information
All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.
We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
