About Morphettville Park Football Club

Origins and Founding

Morphettville Park Football Club, known as the Roos, was formed in 1958 in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. The club played its initial games against sides who had forfeits or byes, and joined the Glenelg-South-West District Football Association A2 Division in 1959 for its first full season of competition. Based at Kellett Reserve in Morphettville, the club has operated continuously for more than 65 years, competing across multiple South Australian league structures as the local competition landscape evolved around them.

Club History

After winning the A2 Division premiership in 1963, Morphettville Park were promoted to the top A1 division, where they remained until the Southern Metropolitan Football League folded at the end of the 1986 season. The club then transferred to the Southern Football League, winning the Division 1 premiership in 1990. In 2017, along with Brighton Districts and Old Scholars, Morphettville Park moved into the Adelaide Footy League, claiming a further Division 4 premiership in 2021. The Roos have produced at least one AFL-listed player, Tony McGuinness. The women's program, which began in 2007 when the Sturt Women's team relocated to Morphettville Park, has become one of the most successful in amateur women's football in South Australia. The women's team won three consecutive South Australian Women's Football League premierships from 2014 to 2016, and has added three more Adelaide Footy League premierships in 2021, 2023, and 2025, along with two Under 18 Girls' flags in 2014 and 2017.

Home Ground

The Roos are based at Kellett Reserve in Morphettville, which serves as the club's principal playing and training ground. Kellett Reserve is a community sporting facility shared with the club's cricket and netball sections. Morphettville Park Sports and Community Club (MPSCC) operates as the umbrella organisation for football, cricket, and netball at the ground, providing integrated facilities for all members of the Morphettville community.

Community and Programs

Morphettville Park fields both senior men's and senior women's teams in the Adelaide Footy League, as well as junior grades. The women's program in particular has distinguished itself at state level over more than a decade of competition, with six A-Grade premierships to its name. The club also runs cricket and netball sections, making it a genuine multi-sport community organisation. The Roos actively support the growth of women's football in South Australia and have contributed significantly to the state's amateur football landscape.

Morphettville

Morphettville is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, located approximately 7 kilometres south-west of the Adelaide CBD. The suburb is best known for the Morphettville Racecourse, home of the Adelaide Racing Club and one of South Australia's premier thoroughbred racing venues. Morphettville is a quiet residential suburb bordered by the suburb of Park Holme to the south, Glenelg North to the west, and Novar Gardens to the north-west. The area is within the City of Marion local government area and is well connected to central Adelaide via the Morphettville bus corridor and nearby Glenelg tram.

The Roos compete in the Adelaide Footy League and call Kellett Reserve, Morphettville home. Visit the club at mpscc.com.au, and follow them on Facebook.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
