About North Haven Football Club
Origins and Founding
The North Haven Football Club has its origins in 1935 as the Port Adelaide Presbyterian Football Club, one of South Australia's early faith-based community clubs. The club took a recess during the Second World War and was reformed in 1960 by club stalwart Alf McLennan under the banner of the United Church League. For the next 18 seasons the club played all home games at Almond Tree Flat, a modest oval in Largs Bay with a tin shed as its changerooms. During those 18 seasons in the United Church League, Port Presbyterian Football Club - known affectionately as "Port Pres" - won 11 premierships and played finals in 14 seasons, establishing a culture of consistent performance that continues today.
Club History
The club joined the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) in 1980, winning A4 A Grade premierships in 1982 and 1984. Further premierships followed in Division 3 in 1985, when both the A and B Grade sides won flags, earning promotion to Division 2. In 1990, the club renamed itself North Haven to reflect the growing suburb it now called home - a decision that sparked debate at the time but proved to be the right call. More recent successes include Division 4 and Division 3 premierships in 2017 and 2021 respectively, along with numerous finals campaigns across the past decade. Today the club fields over 350 players and serves a broader football community of more than 1,000 people.
Home Ground
In 1988, the club moved from Almond Tree Flat to its current home at Ray Guscott Reserve in Largs North, a facility that has grown alongside the club over more than 35 years. The reserve provides grounds for men's and women's senior football, junior competitions, and the club's popular Auskick and Superkick programs. The move in 1988 marked a significant step forward in the club's development, providing space and infrastructure befitting a growing community club.
Community and Programs
North Haven FC runs three senior men's football teams, one senior women's team, 12 junior football teams including five all-girls sides, an Auskick program for ages 4-7, a Superkick program for ages 7-12, and two senior netball teams. The breadth of these programs reflects the club's commitment to being a genuine all-ages community club. The women's and all-girls programs have expanded significantly in recent years, ensuring football pathways are available to participants across the North Haven community.
North Haven and Largs North
North Haven is a coastal suburb in Adelaide's northern suburbs, located approximately 20 kilometres north-west of the Adelaide CBD. Part of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, it sits along Gulf St Vincent and is known for its marina, boat-launching facilities, and proximity to the Barker Inlet wetlands. Largs North, where Ray Guscott Reserve is located, borders North Haven and shares the same coastal character. The area is a working-class, family-oriented community with deep roots in sport and the outdoors.
The club competes in the SAAFL and calls Ray Guscott Reserve, Largs North home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.
Footy Banner Information
All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.
We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
