Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Riley Thompson, #3, 50 Games. All banners are produced with permanent inks on heavy-duty paper designed to hold its own through a bitter south-west Victorian afternoon at Hanlon Park.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Tigers share the same milestone on game day, our Two Player Banner is the ideal way to celebrate them both. Provide both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll create a quality dual banner the Portland faithful will love.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For 3 to 6 players all being recognised together, our Team Banner puts every name on display. Feature a top-line message like "Go Tigers!" and honour every player in the one great banner. A brilliant option for a milestone round or club presentation night.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that last for years. Hang a Tigers keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or games room and keep the memory of a big season right where you can see it.

About Portland Tigers

Origins and Founding

Australian rules football has been played in Portland since at least 1866, making the Portland Football Netball Cricket Club one of the oldest football institutions on Victoria's south-west coast. The club formally came together in the 1870s and competed across various early Victorian regional competitions, including the Portland Football Association, the South Western District Football League, and the Glenelg Football Association. In 1994, the club formally became the Portland Football-Netball Club, and in 2006 adopted its current name - the Portland Football Netball Cricket Club - to reflect its broader sporting programs. The club's popular nickname, the Tigers, has defined generations of Portland football identity.

Club History

The Tigers have accumulated 18 senior football premierships across their history, including titles in 1906/07, 1909, 1912, 1914, 1922, 1924, and 1929 in early district competitions, 1952 and 1956 in the Western District Football League, and 1966, 1985/86, 1991, 2003, and 2006/07/08 in the Western Border Football League. The Western Border League itself was formed in 1964 from the amalgamation of the Western District Football League and the South Eastern Border Football League. In 2013, after months of deliberation, the club made the decision to join the Hampden Football Netball League, bringing its long history into the western Victoria regional competition.

Home Ground

The Tigers have called Hanlon Park home since 1923. Before that, from 1866, matches were played on the North Cliff cricket ground. Hanlon Park sits in the heart of Portland and has been the backdrop for well over a century of football in the district, excepting a brief period in 1961 when Henty Park was used while Hanlon Park was top-dressed.

Community and Programs

Beyond football, the club runs netball and cricket programs, making it a genuine multi-sport community institution. Junior development programs feed talent into the senior ranks, while the women's and netball sections have grown substantially. The club is deeply embedded in Portland life and serves as a gathering point for families from Portland and surrounding farming districts each season.

Portland

Portland is a historic deep-water port city on Victoria's far south-west coast, located approximately 362 kilometres west of Melbourne. With a population of around 10,016 at the 2021 census, Portland is the largest coastal town between Warrnambool and the South Australian border. The city is known for its aluminium smelter, coastal scenery, whale watching at Logans Beach, and a rich maritime history dating to the 1830s. Portland sits within the Glenelg Shire and is a service hub for the surrounding agricultural and timber regions.

The Tigers compete in the Hampden Football Netball League and call Hanlon Park home. Follow them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram for news and match-day updates.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
